What you will learn

How to apply Optimization Algorithms in Real-World Mechanical Engineering Problems

How to mathematically formulate your optimization problems in GAMS?

The classic optimization problems in Mechanical Engineering

Description

This course presents a methodological and systematic set of guidelines and applications of optimization algorithms (e.g. GAMS) for real-world problems in mechanical engineering.

It provides an invaluable resource for undergraduate/postgraduate students as well as practicing engineers working in the mechanical engineering sector

It contains several applied case-studies, industrial and practical examples.

In this course, you will learn:

  • The basics of optimization techniques applied to mechanical engineering problems.

  • The problem-solving skill that enables you to deal with the practical aspects of optimization and mechanical engineering.

  • How to formulate a real-world mechanical engineering problem as an engineering optimization problem.

  • How to write optimization codes for applying on mechanical engineering problems.

  • How to deal with real problems from industry and the approach that should be taken to solve them.

One of the best teachers I've ever had! He is a masterful lecturer and is very good at explaining topics that would otherwise be confusing. I also like how he utilizes coding challenges to reinforce the ideas taught in the course. I'm personally hoping for new courses.

This is so good for someone with no experience. And i would assume someone with experience and just want to learn GAMS.

This course has been my favorite course ever. I really liked coding and I started out by learning scratch and I wanted to learn a programming language. When I saw this course I could completely understand the video and it will be easy for you too. Thank You for this course! It is worth it!

I thoroughly enjoyed the content of this course and Soheil did a fantastic job of explaining things in fine detail. I now possess sufficient understanding of how the optimization method works.

The notes provided was really helpful. It made the whole process of learning about statics more manageable and very easy to follow. In addition, the step-by-step approach made learning a lot more enjoyable to learn. The class lecture was well organized. Providing the GAMS tutorial was a ++ in this course. Thanks Udemy for providing this course

The abstract concepts discussed were at times very basic (e.g. - high school level physics) and the pace of the course was a bit too slow. The course is not well organized (i.e. - the GAMS section should be right after the intro, and Quiz 1 asks questions about topics not covered in any of the lectures). I would have appreciated (and expected) more of a methodological discussion of design optimization and pseudocode examples of how to translate the physics into the optimization routines. That way the lessons learned from this course could be more readily taken to other software tools, such as MATLAB.

The first section was good, it gave me good insight into the concepts and how to formulate real-world problems in GMAS. but the second part was average. The instructor should introduce some syntax of GAMS, such as how to define a table and ...
