Starting with good content and concepts, the presentation slides were at times too busy and some resources were unavailable, such as the PDF for the Software Requirements Document.

Seems like a very good selection of concepts to provide for an introductory course. Well delivered aswell

Missing some key templates in this presentation. It was frustrating having the really great lecture, but nothing to download and takeaway for use.

The material and information covered in the course could be covered in a lot less time. The content should be crisp and concise. It is too basic even for beginners should be a little advance.

It is very definition oriented and doesn't get into the specifics or depth. It is like teaching a school.

I took this course as it aptly described what I was looking for - I have been in software development from quite a few years and have been asked to take on project managerial roles. Firstly, the course layout has been very well planned - and it is explained in the first lesson - as to why. In short, this follows the traditional areas of project management. Secondly, there is pragmatic mix of a little PMBOK and lots of details on the software specific side of things. But, what makes this course really worthwhile is that every lesson is taught with the boundaries delineated and pitfalls flagged. I have recommended this to my friends and colleagues . There is a scope for lots more addition - inhouse development, IT related aspects, development tools - I will look forward to future additions with a lot of interest. Good work and keep at it!

I outsource software projects to small & medium contractors. There are 3 things that struck me as really great in this course. One, focus is exactly as promised - for software development managers - and very less of generic lectures. Second, I notice almost all lessons are complete with not only the concepts - but also how things may go wrong, what to do as in best practice and some practice tools (template?). There is a case study developed in the course and while it doesn't run through the full course as it should have - it does well help wherever it appears in the lessons. Now, my grouse points - at one point at least there is subtitle text overlap. The subtitles are very helpful BUT please make sure the background is also visible. I noticed from a discussion by another student asking for lessons on "Audit". This will be very helpful for me too. I would like to review/audit techno-functional contractor documents. Please add some lessons and on this arena. Hint: Quizzes and any take-home materials will be of great additional value, please consider. I have finished about 3/4th of the course in one sitting. Summing up, I definitely recommend this course to anyone looking at software management.

This is a very specific course - for new project managers who come from a technology background. And that is exactly waht I was looking for so I have derived quite a lot of value from this course. The course starts right away with a great introduction to the "Iron Triangle" - constraints. I have actually taken a print out as this is so very fundamental. WBS (no jargon? lol) is work detailing - but the treatment here is quite comprehensive, There are lots of practical tips and examples on how to create this step-by-step. Some very useful lessons on risk management. This has been so often overlooked or sadly ignored in real life projects. This course has a great treatment and I got comfortable with the concepts very quickly. Couple of noteworthy points to me: a, being welcomed by a great message by the instructor. b, prompt response to my questions. c, I have given some opinions on additions that I would like. This is my first Udemy course, and I just loved the complete experience. I hope to be learning for as long as possible. thanks!

I have experience managing project teams from but have started with pure software development and software maintenance teams. The lessons are power packed with advice and techniques, lots of "pitfalls" - as the instructor calls it. My request is that "maintenance" projects need some additional focus - is it too specific. The reason I ask for this is that vast majority of projects are actually maintenance based. But all in all this is a great course and I highly recommend it for newcomers or experienced but new to software and tech projects. The introduction section was highly useful to me - especially the SDLC techniques are very well and concisely explained. As other reviewers have mentioned the software risks lessons are also very good. What struck me is that the balance between general project management and software specific project management is very well maintained. And the instructor keeps the course highly engaging by not delving into theory and keeping things practical. This course can be taken in 1-2 sessions like I did - but I infact revisted again and no doubt will come back for more reference. Great work, thanks.

Lightweight on acronyms but packed with great advice and techniques for new managers like me. Some of this is solid common sense, some are great tools - like the WBS. I also appreciate that great reporting will make a significant impact. Must also mention the super lecture on Risk mitigation and contingency - I attended a 3 hour session that pretty much covered what is taught in this short lesson. Would love to see a sample completed risk plan. Can you please add this?

I am an experienced developer with 50% PM workload - and I manage my team. The lessons in this course are bullseye for a new project manager. Almost every lesson has best practices, "pitfalls", some template to explain the format - and what I like most is that there is no jargon. The PHB in the title is a "Pointy Haired Boss" - a Dilbert reference and I had no clue about that when I started the course. During the lessons I could only say "how true"! One more of my colleague has also taken up this course and I will refer it to others also. I must also appreciate that the instructor responded very quickly to my messages and took quite some trouble to message me in great detail privately. All in all, a very satisfying learning experience on Udemy!!

I am a new project manager from a few months - and I could relate to every single pitfall that was mentioned by the instructor. By the end of this course, which I finished in about a week - by taking lots of notes - I have gone back and implemented atleast 3 aspects what I picked in this course. I have been reading a lot of books on Project Management - and every book on the topic seems to have been written for large organizations. It seems as if the authors do not seem to care for small and medium sized real life projects :-) I believe more lessons on project closure are being released - as someone else has mentioned. All in all a fantastic course if one wants to skip the jargon and get to the point. Thanks and please keep me posted on new courses!!!

Thanks for these lessons - I am handling PM responsibilities from a year now from a long technical background. I felt like laughing and crying while going through the course because I could relate to every pitfall you mentioned. I am sure to keep revisiting this course. I am also going to gift this course to a couple of my close friends who will love it as much as I do. BTW, I have also downloaded the certificate and will print it out to my desk - thanks for the course. I am looking forward to the section on project closure!

I finished this course in 2 straight sessions then re-visited a couple of lessons again. For me, the "pitfalls" included in most lessons were very useful and I could relate to them. I have already been managing projects for some time now - but I can imagine this will very useful for somebody taking the project management plunge for the first time. My advice to the creator of this course is to include some simple tool such as ZOHO or Basecamp - or recommend a set of tools for usage. Great work, thanks!

I loved this short course and am waiting for the new lessons announced. I have been reading lots of books on this subject from about 2 years - and was very impressed to see every lesson in this course very thick with information with no fluff at all. My favorite lesson is on risk management - and superbly explained. Some things that can be made better - one 1-2 slides, the subtitle overlaps the last line on the slide. This made me anxious if I am losing anything - please change this. In a couple of lessons, audio fluctuates and can this be made higher?- however I must also mention that all lessons are subtitled (thanks for that!). I would also like to say that WBS examples will be a great addition to your course - it is difficult to get good samples on this. And since you put so much importance to WBS - would be great for students to get some more examples. I know I will revisit this course again often for specific topics - please continue to add more :-)
