We use MYOB which in Canada is Accountedge. We prefer it over Quickbooks as it evolved from a proper G/L system as opposed to the evolution from Quicken which is primarily a cheque writer. Plus Quickbooks likes to beat up their clients by continually forcing upgrades. I was looking for a simple system for a small financial service entity and set up the person on Express Accounts which was fine except, each service customer involves utilizing a subcontractor so the "direct costs"s have to match the client revenue and the person was disorganized and really needed payables processing hence the Express Accounts. Your course confirmed my set-up was in the right direction. What you found out is that NCH Express Accounts needs to tweak the reporting - and it would be much improved. I use DuckCapture to get some of the "reports" that are not generated but shown on the screen. You will find its hell trying to reconcile payables when the reporting doesnt show the invoice number, so I put in the invoice number in the reference, notes and wherever else hoping it will show up. And how can the system not give an accounts receivable at an earlier date as backup for year end balances. You can only get an A/R at todays date????. And I found the banking side a bit lame too. So there are work arounds, but it still gets a 6 out of 10. But unlike Express Invoice, a non- accountant certainly would struggle with Express Accounts.

Great for beginners but I feel that the course content could be sped up or tidied up a little in regards to narration as can get quite repetitive and dull especially when trying to make notes.

Very practical course; easy to follow. The main features are clearly explained. The video is lagging behind the sound sometimes which makes watching some segments a bit awkward. Overall a good course.

I like that Ms. Newton uses examples in her accounting courses, most other courses just tell you where to go. That is great for people who are transitioning from one accounting software to another. However, for those who have businesses and want to see how using the accounting software should be used in terms of their business many of those other courses are not helpful at all. If you're not familiar with accounting and bookkeeping her courses are great without leaving you behind. My only recommendation is that when she's trying to figure out something with the software that those parts be edited out. It is at times uncomfortable to wait 2 very long minutes, for example to figure out how to add Credit Note Numbers to a Credit Note. Other than that excellent.
