Description

Motivated and Engaged Employees are everyone's dream come true ! Happier and more productive employees, less absenteeism and turnover, better performance, better cost management, better profitability ... it is almost a panacea for most, if not all, the ills, that Corporations and Institutions face !

And yet, it has never been easy to figure out sustainable ways to improve the motivation and engagement levels of your Employees, Managers, and Leaders.

There are some tenets of ancient wisdom, which have been practiced for centuries, but without really any long term improvement in employee motivation or engagement. We have, explicitly, or implicitly, believed that Employees are motivated by their compensation, rewards, and bonuses; the threat of a bad performance rating, or of being fired. But is that really true ? What really does motivate all of us ? As it turns out, the truth is a little more complicated than that !

This Course will take you you into the depths of Motivation Theories, the research behind them, and what their findings and lessons are ! It also delves into evolution and history of Human Motivation, to provide a context to understand its complexities; and what works, and what does not, under different circumstances.

You will understand, from the research and theories, the complex set of factors that do motivate all of us, and get some practical lessons and applications from them.

Whether you are a Leader, or a follower, these lessons will provide valuable tips on Motivation.

Overall It was a nice experience and this course made us rethink of what wrong we were doing in our daily lives. Would strongly recommend this course and each and every employee or student out there.

Very interesting in terms of how theories changed. Would be even better with concrete company examples, good and bad The emotions part is highly dependent on which culture you are talking about, so not as effective as the previous section

While this was an externally motivated class, I took away a lot of good ideas from it and have a better understanding of many of the theories expressed.

A good summary on the studies of motivation. Could have been better if more specific examples were given on how to apply in today's workplaces

This course was not really what I was expecting it to be, but I still feel I was able to learn and appreciate the content. It has definitely helped me understand the views on what may or may not motivate individuals.

This course was heavy on the theory but provided little to know determination on actual learning. This is a course on motivation and engagement but provided little in the way of engagement. It was over 4 hours of lectures. The discussions around the history and theory could have been condensed as they provided little enhancement to the presented thesis. My recommendation would be to present the thesis and in order to engage the learner ask them more questions.

The course delivers a detailed history on motivation that can be better acknowledged in the quoted books. No additional information that cannot be found in the used bibliography so far.

This is a very nice detailed lesson on motivation and employee engagement. I think Sivakami has listed almost all the theories that are there, on motivation, and all the experiments done, throgh history ! and each theory covers the lessons that are there to learn, what works, and what does not work, for motivation. I found a lot of surprises also, what companies think will be good for motivation is actually not so good, but it can demotivate if it is not done properly. This is very interesting, and can be very useful for HR DEpt. and Managers, and also the Senior management of the companies. I will recommnd the Course very much, to all employees, Managers, Leaders, HR Dept. Board and Management Grps. It is a long Course and dont take it all in one sitting, but very valuable and useful information. I took a lot of notes and may cover te lessons again and take more notes.
