I watched this video course a couple of times. I have a few of Mike's courses and this is my favorite. I like Mike's little quotes that make things easy to remember, like "Everyone else quiet down while the Queen of Music Speaks. Let's hear what the Queen has to say." and "Make Space for the Bass". I need to watch this all the way through one more time, or read the PDF, and write down all those points that I easily look over when considering a new composition. For me, deciding on the timing and selecting a drum rhythm (or beat) sets the stage for me, especially for action music.

The tips are helpful and easy to remember. However, the course is overly repetitious at times. Also, Mike speaks very clearly but also very slowly, so I have to watch at 1.5x or 1.75x speed. This wouldn't be an issue usually, but since we listen to music samples in the course, switching between regular and increased playback speed can get tedious. Otherwise, a great course so far.

This was my first course of Mike’s that I went through, and I can only hope that his others are just as good. To me, this may literally have been the BEST educational presentation of any kind that I’ve EVER had the pleasure of observing! Mike is not only experienced, knowledgeable and insightful, but he is amazing at actually TEACHING what he knows in a very effective and engaging way. First of all, the content was highly organized and presented in an extremely concise and digestible manner with no unnecessary fluff while still reiterating the main concepts plenty enough to boost memory retention. All this combined with the given PDF of Mike’s own condensed notes, I felt no need to laboriously take my own notes. You can also tell how passionate Mike is about what he teaches and he speaks in a manner that is very enjoyable and engaging to listen to. Lastly, I very much enjoyed the more broad view perspective of composing based around the very fundamental elements / parameters of music and sound in general. The concepts presented here are immediately actionable and to me, provided much more guidance in making informed decisions on how to develop my ideas than any typical music theory course ever has. Overall, I found it refreshingly insightful and inspiring and would highly recommend this course to aspiring composers or songwriters of any genre or style. Thanks, Mike!

Very specific! Exactly how I needed to have this explained. This approach is perfect for putting rhythm, harmony and melody into understandable explanations. The course is exciting and inspiring. Very Good rating.... This course is making me aware of many details of composing music, and how space,time,silence,volume,dynamics,reverb,panning all effect the composition out come.....i started hearing the music on teh radio differently and hear these details in the songs i listened to

Concise course with key tips for professionally composing music with today's technologies. The instructor is very motivated in explaining the content using some interesting analogies. Perhaps some practical examples would help beginners understand better. I highly recommend this course to all composers.

I personally love Mikael teaching style, this is my second course from him, but I felt that specialy for this one, there are not enough audio examples to learn from. For the compossing in space section, even when that is something that we will see in music production, and do not get me wrong, he perfeclty explained the concept, but there was no audio examples to understand how the reverb afect the sound depth . Most of the examples for specific sections where visual , looking at the midi tracks, and I think because this is a music composition, we should hear more examples for sections as how to compose in range, tempo and depth and the music colors. Besides that, I love Micael teaching style.

This is course should be listed as being for ultra-beginners. And since that is the case there's also the problem of no musical examples. I tried a couple of this instructor's other music courses. Guess what? He doesn't provide musical examples in those either. Just a nice keyboard sitting in front of him but not being played.

I just keep feeling like the part I'm looking for is coming but never happens. Where is the composing? Not explanations of it but the actual doing. Before I knew it I was 65% through and was still waiting for it to kick in. I like Mike, but this was not what I expected. Just not enough here.
