Why take this course?

Welcome to this course about Microsoft Excel. You can use any version of Excel in this course, whether it is Excel 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, or Excel 365.

A lot of people use some of the features in Excel and just muddle through - not many use all of the functions.

In this course, I take my favorite features and functions, and show you how you can make your Excel life easier by using them.

  • Learn more about formatting, filters and conditional formatting - they can improve the presentation of your spreadsheets with just a few clicks.

  • Create tables, PivotTables, Chart, PivotCharts and Sparklines - create analyses very quickly.

  • Find out how powerful Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is - automate your code.

  • And learn functions such as SUM, SUMIF, VLOOKUP, OFFSET and iNDIRECT - translated into 15 different languages.

There are also a couple of Practice Activities, so that you can do these exercises and see how much you have learned.

In just a couple of hours, you can see how much time and frustration you can save knowing a few additional features - and you'll find out how much more you can learn.

Afterwards, we'll investigate what you should know about Excel, having a look at the official Microsoft exams for a guide.

It is good basic course for beginners wanting to improve their Excel knowledge. It needs an update to current Excel versions and perhaps Xlookup. Thank you Phillip.

I appreciate the efforts put in by the instructor. But he's too fast in visual representation. Its tough to follow where is the cursor moving without an oral mention. Functions should have been discussed properly without hurry!!

For me personally, I didn't see a practical application for most of what he taught here. Interesting content for an excel geek though.

Although an excel user for many years, I love picking up little tips n tricks that I just never have been exposed to. I plan on watching all of these beginner videos just to see what new little things I can learn. Bravo A++.

It was quite interesting. I can say that I learnt new things. The only problem I had was that the instructor was quite fast with some explanations and used some shortcuts that he didnt emphasize on.

Great overview of advanced functions with Excel. It would have been more helpful the hear real-world professional examples of when things would be leveraged (for instance, why use VLOOKUP if you can just filter a table or use a pivot table, or "ctrl + F"? Why/when would you use OFFSET or INDIRECT?). Knowing how to use them is helpful, but knowing why/when would provide better context.

Good explanation of pivot tables (the reason I took the course). The first exercise was difficult to follow. I'll return to the beginning of the course to try to complete the first exercise.

I appreciate the Teacher offering a resource file for us to play along with his instructions. This allows the experience to be completely interactive, which offers immediate skill learning. You can also pause the instructions if you need additional time to repeat steps or practice.
