Initial Requirements:
You must a series of exams ($150 each) on your chosen platform. Currently, available MCSA certifications include:

MCSA: Windows Server 2012 - You must pass 3 exams: Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012, Administering Windows Server 2012, and Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services. You can upgrade to this certification from several of the older MCITP credentials by passing a single exam.

MCSA: Windows Server 2008 - You must pass 3 exams: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring; Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring, and Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator.

MCSA: Windows 8 - (2 exams): Configuring Windows 8, and Managing and Maintaining Windows 8. You can upgrade to this certification from several of the older MCITP credentials by passing a single exam.

MCSA: Windows 7 - (2 exams): Configuring Windows 7, and Windows 7 Enterprise Desktop Support Technician. Until January 31, 2014, when you earn your MCSA: Windows 7 certification you will also earn your MCTS: Windows 7, Configuration and either your MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator (exams 680 and 686) or MCTIP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician (exams 680 and 685).

MCSA: SQL Server 2012 - (3 exams): Querying Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Administering a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Database, and Implementing Data Warehouses with Microsoft SQL Server 2012.

MCSA: SQL Server 2008 (2 exams) - Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance plus Microsoft SQL Server 2008, Business Intelligence Development and Maintenance.

Although the acronym (MCSA) is the same, this is an entirely different credential than the Microsoft Certified System Administrator.
