so... why MENTAL and PHYSICAL Self Defense?

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where someone was trying to attack you?
Perhaps, you got mugged and had no idea how to handle yourself?
Do you have problems with controlling your emotions and thinking clearly in conflict situations?

The truth is that most people struggle with handling conflicts and defending themselves in heated situations. This is why we created this course. 

This course is different than a typical self defence guide. We don't focus solely on self defence techniques, but put a huge emphasis on handing your emotions, building your confidence and awareness. This set of skills is necessary to successfully avoid dangerous situations and this is what we are all about. We believe that the first step to successful self defence is decreasing the probability of becoming a victim.

We will teach you how to increase your core and perceived confidence so you are less likely to be attacked. You will also learn what to do to prevent escalation from happening, how to control your emotions and maintain your composure. The truth is that those skills can be also extremely useful in your professional and personal life.

We will show you how to avoid getting physical when the situation gets out of control.We believe that using physical violence should ONLY happen when it's absolutely necessary and there is no other, peaceful way to resolve a situation. 

However, not all conflicts can be resolved peacefully and we will teach you how to defend yourself when someone starts being physically aggressive towards you.

Thank you for this course, it has taught me a lot about the psychological aspect of self-defence, and some helpful self-defence techniques. Whenever someone initiates a fight, it helps clear up a lot about how you can avoid it, and why the person is starting it in the first place. Great course and definitely enjoyed it.

There is some good stuff in the course, especially in the first two sections about the psychology of how to present oneself and how to turn a situation to your advantage and I do appreciate that. It's rare to see this is a self-defense course. I also appreciate the de-escalation techniques. Then you happen upon section 3 and it just gets weird. I find it strange that the instructors who just get through giving excellent advice about approval and validation seeking then dovetail into this offputting dialogue about posture and making these judgments about people that they have just pulled out their ass. This more often has to do with health issues and not confidence. (You absolutely should practice correct posture, just not for the shallow reasons they gave. ) The actually 'fighting' part of the course is more demonstrational and while it's not bad information it's not anything new if you've had even the most basic self-defense class in the past. I also find it weird that you never see the woman they put in the thumbnail, which is off-putting because I thought I'd get to see women in this self-defense class and be able to observe how they move and how they fight. Overall, it was a bit underwhelming.

Ce cours est eccellent pour ceux et celles qui désirent avoir un alternatif aux combats de rues. Les techniques de désamorçage verbal dans cette vidéo sont extremmement importantes pour tous. Le désamorçage verbal devrais être la 1ere et la plus importante partie de résolution de conflits enseignées par tous les pratiquants d'autodéfense.

There are many good things about this course. Ilya is one of the most easygoing, down-to-earth and clear-spoken instructors I have seen on udemy, and he makes me feel very comfortable and interested. He is clearly also very professional and really knows his stuff. Jimmy is more like his sidekick/producer in this course. Ilya comes from a boxing/thai/kickboxing background, so naturally the moves etcetera are based on that, which makes this course, in my opinion, more for "guys" than girls as it takes some power and strength to perform. The course is also quite short, which has its benefits because people are more likely to complete a shorter course than a long one, and it's better to take a short self defense course than none at all. The drawback with a short course is that naturally some elements will be missing, such as dealing with your own fear and the adrenaline effect, alternative strikes such as the hammer strike and palm heel strike, other striking targets, etcetera. As an instructor of Close Quarters Combat, especially to women, I would include these additions -- and I am tempted to offer Jimmy and Ilya a course in collaboration with me ;)

This is exactly what I needed. Great course, guys. Ive been bullied my whole life, by friends family and strangers. Taken advantnage of, humiliated, and intimidated. Ilya and Stefan break down why people treat me like. What Im projecting that Im not aware of. And then step by step, provided the tools and anwers to help correct this weakness, which is wholely my own. How not to be a victim. Of myself or others. And the exercises for fighting were simple and easy to train every day. Although ilya’s personal story has encouraged me to try muay thai.
