What you will learn

Mechanical drafting software DraftSight (free)

Setting up custom title blocks for drawings

Orthographic projection

Dimension styles

Isometric sketching

Geometric Tolerances

Why take this course?

This course is meant to give a brief introduction to mechanical drawings that an engineer would typically give to a machine or fab shop or create for the mass production environment.

We go over orthographic projection, section views, auxiliary views, dimensioning styles, and geometric tolerances.  In order to learn all of these things, we utilize DraftSight, a free 2D sketch environment created by Dassault Systems.

So far, I'm satisfied with the course. It's really a good match for me, and, certainly, though an introduction to mechanical drawing, it's not a from scratch course. And this is good because beginner courses are rather boring, so the level and pace go fine with my learning skills. Good lecture videos, thanks.

Draftsight free version doesn't exist anymore, so that does not allow me to follow along. Also I don't think this course is for a beginner.

This course felt more like tips and tricks about DraftSight than a learn to use from scratch or an introduction to mech. drawings course. For an experienced in drawings engineer or for someone that knows the basics and wants to get up to speed with the software this course is perfect. I personally got all the info I needed. The video quality could be improved and the discussed topics could be better organized. The software did receive a lot of updates since the time of recording but the concepts, tools used are still the same. In the end I do not recommend this course to someone with no experience in drawings, on the other hand it is great if you got the basics and just want to learn some tricks about the software.

Most of the online training for draft sight is taught by foreigners. this is by far the best one I have ran across this Guy teaching is American, he is using the standard system makes everything easy. I left other courses confused all over the metric system and foreign terminology used.

Can I ask for a return? If he wanted to teach rather than trying to make some money moonlighting or whatever.....please speak up like a teacher :( The stuff in the teaching has no focus..

I think this was explained well and the instructor was knowledgeable Three comments - 1. The DraftSight is no longer free. You do get a 30-day trial, but then there is a cost. Also, the user interface has changed from the video. It should probably be updated 2. I would have liked to see more "Homework" or practice files for the students on all the lectures. 3. Along with the homework, it would be helpful to have explanations on how to complete all the HW assignments. Add those three things to the course and it is five star

I learned a lot about Mechanical drawings as I am a ChemE looking to break into the Aerospace industry. I thought the orthographic projection exercise on paper wasn't as effective as an assignment to be done through Draft Sight
