Why take this course?

Mastering the Poi Basics is for those who know most or all of the basic moves of poi (weaves, windmill, butterfly, etc.) but who can't flow comfortably and confidently with them yet.

We will take a detailed tour of all the basics as defined by Nick Woolsey. As we go, we will look at several foundation-level concepts about mastery. You will learn to beautify your planes, rhythm and timing, footwork and turns, and to disassemble and explore the moves so that you can become truly expressive with them.

There are about 15 videos at the time of publication. You should be able to go through all the videos in a couple of weeks, but putting the concepts into practice will take months. In fact, to truly achieve "mastery" with all these concepts would take years. Fortunately, playing with any of these concepts will immediately begin to impact your poi spinning in positive ways.

This course will help you to feel empowered with the poi moves you already know, and it will prepare you to go onwards into intermediate and advanced poi.

Nick is an amazing teacher! Even when you think you know the moves, there's always some fresh ideas and unusual angles. Playing with inner tether in 3-beat weave? Tracing a flight of a butterfly? Add turns, try different timing? You are in for a treat and surprises. Not to mention charisma and decades of experience!

Nick Woolsay is not only amazing teacher, but in fact an outstanding poi spinner who mastered his skills to the peak level - I believe. And it's not only that. In his lessons, he teaches the technique itself - step by step, as well as their details - for improving quality. Along the way listing important factors in the course of practice to memorize them in order to proper learn later on. All this to give the gold in the end, to forget the whole techniques and start to feel free in a flow of dance. All this in a good mood, without pretending. Nick Woolsay is a fully devoted passionate, true POI master. Thank you again for that Jurney.

This course was absolutely great. I've been spinning about 6-7 months now and have a decent amount of skill under my belt. The biggest obstacles to my advancement in form and ability were, I felt, the smaller things and in-betweenies. Nick did a terrific job of breaking these down into manageable parts.
