Description

UPDATE 8th Oct 2018:
I am sorry for any confusion caused by the title and description. I have now renamed the course to: "Quick introduction to influxdb" to more accurately describe the content.

Have you started checking out influxdb or any of the other components in the TICK stack? Even though the documentation is good, it can be tiring and inefficient to simply read through. Let me take you step by step through learning about the TICK stack by building projects. Each project will have a specific goal and contain lecutures with key takeways. Moreover the code is available and ready for you to temper with.

So if you are ready to speed up your learning of the TICK stack join me in building some projects!

I'll do my best to keep the lectures relevant, fun, and engaging by:

  • Building projects

  • Pointing out none obvious concepts and explanations

  • Showing diagrams to explain concepts

  • Questioning your understanding

  • Reference influxdata documentation to help you learn more

*If you have any feedback please let me know.
**This is my first course and I have a lot to learn.
***This course is under development and I would love to get some feedback on what you want to learn next.

The course present the basics to start to use influxdb. I could be nice a deeper course which includes grafana and telegraf.

I love the level of detail, the quizes and the pace, and for me, being a professional programmer who just needs to get up to speed with this technology asap, it's perfect. This is a great course, and, beeing free, I actually find giving it less then five stars kind of impertinent. What's there not to like? Keep on the good work, Espen!

Great introduction to InfluxDB! Many thanks to the author! The course itself needs some "polishing" to be "production ready". I'd recommend smoothing out the transitions between topics. A few concrete recommendations: - Lecture 3 could benefit from some additional explanations and examples - Lecture 5 was rather meaningless as most of the concepts/terms discussed were not yet introduced in the course Overall, very solid WIP! Would recommend to anyone interested in the topic.

The instructor seems to know the topic rather well. But, knowing something and being able to teach it are two very different things.

I learned something new, but most of the videos was a bit fast in trying to convey the information. There was also some parts that was missing some background information, like why should we do a regex on "green"? It turned out that a new field was added without letting us know. It could be better, but it was an intro at least.

There should be either no theoretical introduction and refer to another pre-requisite course or it should be more comprehensive.

It's good as a beginner's course. The working examples are valuable. Good that it points to the next steps on the documentation.

This was a decent tutorial/overview of InfluxDB. There were some parts that were glossed over, but it did serve the purpose of an overview. The references provided are helpful also. I did learn the basics, so thank you!

Good quick introduction to InfluxDB. Some familiarity with git, Unix, and Docker -- including having Docker already installed -- are prerequisites.

The course could have explained some stuff in more detail and better explanation like continuous query, downsampling and why we need it with a visual concept.

I definitely enjoyed the course. It was a good, brief, and engaging introduction to InfluxDB. I didn't want it to end. I was able to get up and running in very short time because of this course. My only suggestion would be to add more lectures on more features. Possibly include sections on telegraf and kapacitor. If there created a paid course with this, I would definitely purchase it.

good: Visual detail about influxdb infrastructure, good examples and fine discussion about difference between time series database and relational database bad: To teaching something you need to build the query and explain why is build in that particularly way, this style of "copy 'n paste and you know the drill" doesn't fit to an on line course.

Nice course. But I thinks it's not enough for a very extended subject, so I found it kind of confusing.
