Why take this course?

Together, we’ll unlock a framework for how to take your idea, talent, and resources and put them in motion toward making and selling your own feature film. You’ll discover the elements of a screenplay that raise or lower a budget and how to address them without losing quality. Find out how to access a crew and equipment without spending money, and why they’ll thank you for it. Learn how to structure your budget and your production days in the most efficient and effective ways. Explore the secrets of distribution so the largest number of people can see your creation. With this key information, some disciplined writing, and a little initiative, you’ll be equipped to stop dreaming and start doing.

I used this same framework for several narratives and documentaries and each film played in festivals, won awards, and received distribution. Including my $2,000 feature that landed on iTunes. This is not film school theory and a deep dive into the art of cinema. That stuff is great and you can learn it elsewhere. We’re going to talk about the types of scenes to write, crew to hire, and strategies to implement that will launch you into a successful production. I’ll take it step by step through each phase of the production process from screenwriting and development, pre-production, production, post, all the way through marketing and distribution.

Good information for me as a potential person doing a low budget film. Got me straight in terms of actors, basic crews needed. Ways to get funding or deferred payments. Will utilize information gained here to bring out a moview on a shoe string budget.

I recommend the course “Make and Sell a Feature Film with No Money.” It is succinct, to the point, and provides practical advice. It clarifies what it is, by highlighting the curriculum – balancing “good, fast, and cheap,” what type of movie to make with writing parameters, the producing strategy, production tips, directing within your budget, and distribution and marketing tips. It takes you through the whole film-making process. It also presents strong points for why limiting yourself can actually be more creative. It presents the idea that limits can be freeing, thus satisfying both the practical and creative side for the film maker. It also clarifies what it does not do, which is actually great – it is not trying to cover everything about film making, it is covering specifically covering how to make a film with no money. It assumes people already have some very basic knowledge of the process, and it helps them take that knowledge to the next level. The teacher is enthusiastic about teaching this – his manner is personable and approachable. It truly feels authentic that he speaks from first hand experience. It does not feel like he is reading from a script, he speaks in a natural manner. He shares personal examples and stories throughout by sharing his own experiences – what worked, what did not. He also has “behind the scenes” shots of his own film sets to further highlight his tips. These examples really solidify what he is saying. To help make the material manageable, it is all broken down into short, clearly labeled increments. This makes absorbing the material easier. Transcripts and closed captioning are also provided, further making it easier to learn. Overall, this course provides a lot of practical advice presented very succinctly. I am glad I took this course.

That was amazing! It's amazing how it goes through all the production processes, from concept to production and finalization. It's not something you can find on youtube! I am really happy to have had the opportunity to learn more and objectively! You know those between the lines that no one speaks? Yes he talks about and explains in a simple way! Thanks for doing this!

While most courses are focused on getting the most out of your camera, this course is focused on getting the most out of each dollar and minute you spend. This is the business and practical side of filmmaking that aren't typically taught in film school. Isaac speaks from years of on-the-ground experience. Save yourself money and headaches and take this course!
