Why take this course?

This is a beginners course meant to help you get started with procedural levels, but it doubles as a starter guide to start developing your first game. This course is focused on using Unreal Engine 4 and coding with blueprints (Programming without code). This course is aimed at beginners but expects you to be familiar with UE4 user interface and to know what blueprints are. During this course you will develop your own game that will be complete and ready to publish at the end. We will look at many features, including a death event, procedural background creation( which will be valid for other genre's of games) and a save game system allowing you to save your high scores. We will also cover the basics of an endless runner character, which will apply to other genre's of games, or other styles of endless runners. We will also cover dozens of other beginner aspects of game development that are often looked over by other courses because you are expected to know them already. I also try my best to explain things to you, and explain why they need to be the way they are. I give detailed explanations of everything so you not only know what to do and what scripts to use, but also understand scripting so you are able to better script other projects based on the knowledge gathered from this course.

Very enjoyable short course. I like that it takes you through the completion of a short game. It includes the mechanics, saving, audio and UI even though it was so short. I was glad to see the procedural generation of the the buildings.

Sadly this is a tutorial with a lot of potential but it's poorly produced. It's not hard to follow along, but it seems the instructor is not really confident with his knowledge. I would never recommend this tutorial as a first approach to Unreal Engine, the Unreal Engine technology is exciting and ground breaking in many ways but this tutorial makes it seem dull and insipid. For someone who has been a "game developer" for 10 years the instructor should be more confident with what he's doing. If you're starting out in Unreal Engine I would 10x recommend the Unreal Engine Blueprint Game Developer course here on Udemy.

I liked the course very easy to follow and gave a good description on creating a procedural meshes that I can re-introduced on my third-person video-game for randomly spawning assets. I have done multiple test using the things I've learned from this course other than using mesh collision to spawn, I have done based on enemy AI's death, and from an enemy AI's death it will spawn a special item which helps me to custom add whatever assets either inventory or visual. ---- My only con is the base price for this course it's a short course with one important features. I recommend waiting on sales.

The instructor was engaging and very responsive to any questions I had. I gained far more knowledge than I anticipated. Worth EVERY PENNY!
