This Unity Game Development training course from Infinite Skills introduces you to the fundamentals of game design with the Unity engine. This tutorial is designed with the absolute beginner in mind; no prior experience with Unity is required.

You will start by exploring the Unity interface, and learning how to manipulate objects in the editor. Throughout this video training course, you will be putting what you learn to immediate practice by creating an actual game - Coconut Hut. Robert teaches you how to import assets for the game, apply physics to objects in the game, and how to combine assets to create complex objects. You will implement behaviours, learn to develop Boo, JavaScript and C# scripts, add animation and manage lighting for the game. Finally you will render and build the game for distribution.

Once you have completed this video tutorial for Game Development with Unity, you will have a strong grasp of the fundamentals needed to build a functional game using the Unity engine. Working files are included, allowing you to follow along with the author throughout the lessons.

I have bought several other Unity game dev. and also VR related courses on Udemy, each of them have their strengths but this one is perfect for beginners who have struggled with Unity and VR for a while. The instructor doesn't teach the very small details. The course is very clear, specific and to the point. One of the things I liked most about this course is that it also teaches about development itself. For example, I learned to work with a low polygon scenario first and have a minimum viable product quickly. I understood it was an important concept because I was always stuck in the early stages, struggling with the small details and not moving my project forward. The course also teaches all the mechanics needed in a game, like character and camera movement, collision, creating contextual user interfaces, scenes, adding XR to an existing project. Another thing that I liked that I couldn't find in other courses was about working with XR device simulators (that really makes developing VR much easier). I truly recommend this course to everyone, especially those who want to learn all the basics needed to create Unity 3D and VR games and have little time to do so.
