Lua Programming: Become a Master of Lua

This is not a tutorial - its just someone repeating the contents of a LUA syntax website - you want to learn LUA with little or no experience of programming this is not for you.

I believe that this course is masterful. I believe that I will be proud to add this certification to my LinkedIn profile. Some beginners may start having some difficulty around section 23. 5 stars.

Overall the course was pretty good. However, the instructor was difficult to understand at times, and the typos while following along will make it difficult for beginners. This course would be 5 stars if there was a better narrator and with no typos during the hands-on process.

Very informative and simple, although I need to comeback to certain lessons especially the last parts.

Nowhere in the course materials does it tell you how to prep your machine for LUA, or that LUA does not support a Windows environment, only Unix-like environments.

This is an extremely boring reading of the language definition with no real hands on (she just shows very simple example code in the video). Instead better read an overview in 15 minutes at https://www.tutorialspoint.com/lua/lua_overview.htm I am not kidding - all slides and examples are 1:1 from this free tutorial - even the variable names are copied 1:1. Even worse she talks very bored and many typos during the "hands on" sessions show she is not always knowing what she is doing. To make it even worse she correct typos in a video cut in between finishing the editing and the execution so you won't get any info that she changed it.

Ausgangssituation: Programmierkenntnisse vorhanden bei verschiedenen Sprachen (C, C++, Python, VBA, Lisp, ...). Erwartung: Vermittlung aller nötigen Grundlagen für die Umsetzung einfacher Programme / Scripte mit Lua. Ich bevorzuge auch die Darstellung und Erklärungen an Code-Beispielen. Fazit: Schulung ist gut strukturiert. Es wird auf alle wesentliche Elemente der Sprache Lua genauer eingegangen. Alle nötigen Basics und Strukturen in Lua werden für den Einstieg ausführlich genug beschrieben und mit Code-Beispielen unterlegt. Die Vortragende spricht ein Englisch mit indischem Akzent. Ein aufmerksames Zuhören ist wichtig, um alles zu verstehen. P. S.: In Teil 20 sind wohl bei der Dozentin die Handwerker im Haus!?

Before anything else, the information on the course isn't necessarily bad, however, the production values are extremely low; in some videos an annoyingly audible hum can be heard through the entirety of the lesson, while in others, it's painfully obvious that the room was not conditioned for audio recording in any way, having a distractingly loud echo of the speaker. This would be no problem whatsoever if the course were a playlist of free videos on a platform such as YouTube, however, there's a standard that one can expect when paying for an online course. The second gripe that I have with the course is the lack of explanation of concepts, it mostly feels like the speaker is reading the Lua documentation and writing down the code without addressing the potential uses of said code, one of the main reasons for purchasing a course over reading the documentation is to have the expertise of an instructor help grasp those concepts that are hard to comprehend when studying or learning on your own, and it was a little disheartening to find no such thing here. The lack of assignments caught me off guard as well, especially with something as exposition oriented as programming is, where the more that you engage with it, the better acquainted that you are with the concepts and the better that you get around solving problems with the tools that you have at hand.

Curso introdutório, bacana que todo conceito é colocado em pratica com um script básico ao final da aula.

The course is good for beginners but needs some improvements! I could say some notes which are: - No resources - Needs some more details _ Needs highlighting some parts of text during explanation

- Show more use cases of Lua - Nothing about some features like : Object oriented programming, C API

Der Kurs hat mit dem Begriff "Master" leider nicht viel gemein. Es ist eher ein "in a nutshell". Beispiele sind nicht besonders aussagekräftig, im Hintergrund wurde wohl bei der Aufnahme renoviert und der indische Akzent macht das Ganze leider auch nicht leichter. Ich finde den Preis von 200€ absolut für einen solchen Inhalt nicht angemessen, den man wohl in einem Bruchteil der Zeit auf einer Tutorial-Seite gelesen hätte. Ich habe mir den ganzen Kurs angeschaut, weil ich gehofft hatte, dass noch ein "Aha-Erlebnis" kommt. Fehlanzeige... leider!

This course would look better as a text tutorial. Instructor just reads the code without explanations. Before saving all mistakes in code are magically get fixed. All examples have nothing to do with real world, variable names are 'value1', 'value2', numbers are random.

I have read lua programming from many sources on internet, but this course on udemy really boosted my knowledge. Thanks to Udemy and Instructor for providing this sort of information
