Why take this course?

Ruby on Rails 7 is the latest and greatest version of Rails yet! In this course, we will learn the basics of Ruby on Rails and gradually move towards more complex topics. We will build 5 applications through this course, and by the end of the course, you will understand the fundamentals of Rails and how to use the latest features (i.e. Hotwire) in Rails.

First, we will create a Blog web application. Users would be able to create an article, and they would also be able to make comments.

Next, we will create an appointment booking application. Here, users would be able to create rooms and create booking appointments for each room. We will also learn how to authenticate users using Devise.

For the following application, we would create a note-taking application. We would use default Ruby on Rails features to create a powerful note-taking application.

We will then refactor our notebook application. Using Turbo Streams and Turbo Frames, we will make a more dynamic and powerful note-taking application without the inclusion of any additional javascript.

Finally, we would create a real-time chat application. Here, users would be able to visit different chatrooms and have other conversations in each chatroom.

A good overview course of Rails 7 new features especially about Hotwire, but this course is not for Rails and Ruby beginners

The material is good. The sound quality is terrible at times. Also, the instructor doesn't always take the time to explain things in detail, which makes it harder to follow if you're a beginner. I have learned a lot, though.

Good information, pacing, and lengths for the videos. The code is a but rough sometimes as it isn't always formatted and Solargraph was not always running in all the videos. There's also no discussion on setup, and I don't approve of using Bundler commands to add Gems, that should be done manually in the Gemfile along with versions you want. Overall it is a good course and I especially liked the TurboStreams section, but it is too rough with the coding format, no information on setup, and promoted some little practices that would get you in trouble on most dev teams. I'd still recommend the course, but with some caveats.

so far, I gave it 3 stars because the functionalities of the app are not explained well. Those who want to get this course should have foundation knowledge otherwise do not understand what is going on in the project.

Very straightforward no nonsense walk through of various Rails 7 projects. Explanations are not great for many concepts. Helpful though to walk through the various examples.

You don't explain anything of what you are doing, you cut videos abruptly for the sake of video quantity, you don't follow code styling rules either, the structure of the course is also hideous making it quite boring and repetitive, despite having so much potential and you only show a glimpse of new addition to rails 7 like hotwire, while concentrating on old stuff. I don't recommend this course. It certainly is not for beginner since the explanation is basically non-existent, while it's also not for someone experienced, since there is only a glimpse on new features of rails 7.

This is awesome! Pure content, no shortcuts, every video has 2, 3min maximum and its ALL about content. Excellent!

If you are already coding with ruby and rails, this might be a great starting step to rails 7 If you are new to coding with ruby and rails, i wouldn't recommend(i felt lack of deeper explanations) Still, learned a lot, so... Great course :D

If you have dev experience and want to get your feet wet with Rails in late 2022 this course could be for you. It's also one of the only courses I could find that was published, NOT UPDATED, in the last 2 years (for anyone that's had trouble with other out of date ruby/rails material on udemy). This could be great for a javascript/React dev trying to break into Ruby/Rails This series is formatted as a code along and NOT an in depth Ruby on Rails course if you're looking for something serious. That being said, the material is simple and concise enough that you can get a solid feel for navigating a small rails application and what goes into making one work. Final note: As of writing (Sep 23, 2022); this course is easy enough to follow that it CAN be completed by someone with no coding/programming experience, however, I think most of the benefits I got out of this course came from already being familiar with concepts like the "Model, View, Controller" architectural design pattern and Object Oriented Programming as well as basic knowledge of the Ruby syntax Pros: - A quick, solid intro to the Rails framework (provided you have some dev experience) - Super simple & concise videos that get to the point without wasting time over explaining (learn by doing/coding along as opposed to listening) - The most modern up-to-date Rails course I could find (late 2022) Cons: (THESE ARE VERY MINIMAL) - The lecturer can be a little monotone and hard to hear at times - Minor problems with the audio in a small number of lectures (nothing breaking) - I think there's a single video missing from the last Chat Application section but the missing material can be figured out from the surrounding videos pretty easily and doesn't break anything

Course is very useful. It is targetted for the beginners. But little more explanation is expected for the beginners. Overall very useful course.

Thank you so much! I was struggling to understand the difference between Rails 6 and Rails 7. Your course just helped me understand Rails 7 easily. Hoping to learn more about Hotwire in Rails 7. Thanks again.

The course is excellent and really clear and easy to follow. The apps I've made so far are simple to look at, but I don't need all of the flashy styling and design stuff, I just need to get working with RoR, so this is literally perfect. It was no issue for me, but I would suggest the instructor provides some info on installing RoR and Ruby, as this may fluster other students.
