This course assumes no previous LaTex knowledge and builds your LaTex skills from the ground up. Was amazingly helpful for understanding how the system works. I had been exposed to the LaTeX through work and lived on google to get through it. This made it so I actually understand what is happening on the screen in the code that is being written. And know that there are many ways to do the same thing.

I'm guessing this really won't go into much in a way of slightly more advanced stuff, so it really does feel quite basic. I would have expected some not-even-all-that-advanced things to be taught already about how to change systemic features of the document (like indenting, etc.)

It's a good overview that summarises the most common type of documents you can create on Latex. I would have appreciated some more details about the overall syntax used in Latex and its general function, and more details about the different files type and the construction of the bibliography (eg from Mendeley/BibTeX/word files/other).

the course does not explain the Syntax of LaTex, it just shows a bunch of tools that can be used. I also could have watch a youtube video for this. And the dialect is unbearable. I just say "cat".

The content of this course was good - I definitely did learn a lot of things that I'm going to use later.
However the sound quality in lectures 2-6 was absolutely awful! I could not even use my headphones as it was very painful to listen to the high sounds. It was a torture to listen to that.

Slightly annoying sound quality for some of the clips. Also, as a complete noob to Latex, I would like to know a bit more basic syntax:
- how to add blank lines
- what the ';' is used for at the end of lines
- how to organise the spacing in my doc if I randomly have an algorithm appearing in the wrong section on the wrong page...
Overall it is a good course though and it is presented clearly.

The course is great, I'm learning a lot, even though I've being using LaTeX for over 5 years now... but the audio is terrible! I can barely understand what the instructor is saying... and the captions are no solution here, they're also terrible...

Awesome job Gary - loved the inclusion of the thesis template, the IEEE transactions, and poster templates. This course will greatly accelerate the documents that I produce for work and school.

The templates are a great way to quickly get started producing high quality LaTex documents and I have used one to update my CV. The lectures provide a good overview of the main topics in LaTex and even how to draw custom figures in Tikz.
