Why take this course?

The course is about Indian voice music, where one can learn music of India. Initially, I will be covering Indian Classical Music, which is the root of all Indian Music. One needs to have an Indian drone-instrument called Tanpura and a Tabla, which is an Indian Percussion for creating beats. An iTabla-pro app (in apple products) connected with speakers is also sufficient for self-practices and sessions. The course is seven weeks long.

Classical music is classified into four groups:

Voice-production training.
Indian note-syllables training(SWARA).
knowledge about Indian beats-rhythms(TAAL).
Raga-improvisation.

There are a plethora of Indian music lovers in all parts of the world. Ample of audience gather for any Indian classical concert, but conceptualizing 'what is Indian Classical' and its proper training is still lacking its persistence. I know many westerner-musicians, who travel to India annually for several months, leaving their jobs, to get guidance from their gurus. Therefore, one should definitely take this course to make Indian music singing and training-steps more accessible and approachable at any time.

Found this course really helpful to learn Indian Classical Music. The instructor has done a great job in explaining things from scratch. It does require patience and practice to develop some level of mastery.

Learning classical music requires patience and work. But with a teacher like Shambhavi Mam it becomes so much easier and fun. She has simplified things a lot and explained them in an interesting manner. I will highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn Indian Classical Music.

The practical part is interesting. However, the anatomy and physiology of the breath and voice given in the course are completely outdated and stuck somewhere in the 19nth century, including some myths that can be harmful. Do not trust any single thing told about that in the course. Get a 21st century textbook for voice anatomy.

A very good course which sets the fundamentals of classical singing. I certainly enjoyed the course and it has the right pace and was very well presented too keeping in mind the audiences. Would definitely recommend this one.

Very well put together. As a sitar player I still find a LOT in this to be helpful to me. Especially when working out some possible improvisations. It's easy to sketch a bit vocally and then come to the instrument after developing some ideas. It also helps to convey to other players what is happening.
