Description

Some Course Reviews from Similar Courses:

"I've also looked at the database with multiple system monitoring products. But really where do I go from here? and when I find the problem what do I really need to do? Mike really shows you the nitty gritty."

"This was just the course I have been waiting for. Mike's demos and scripts have helped me become a confident tuner. The best thing about this course was that I was able to improve our server performance straightaway."

"I already have a great deal of DBA related experienced in the real world. What this course did for me was help me establish a model, and strategy for database tuning and performance monitoring."

Thank you reviewers for your kind feedback.

IMPORTANT: In Microsoft nomenclature there are two portals: Classic Portal and Azure Portal. The Classic one is being phased out. This Course is entirely based on Azure Portal, which is the newest version.

Additionally, this course is NOT for any of the current Microsoft Certifications.

In this course we are going to cover Azure SQL Database. Azure SQL Database is Microsoft’s cloud database service.

Based on SQL Server database technology and built on Microsoft’s Windows Azure cloud computing platform, SQL Azure enables organizations to store relational data in the cloud and quickly scale the size of their databases up or down as business needs change. Data is hosted, managed and provisioned in Microsoft data centers.

This course takes a hands on, real world approach to working with Azure SQL Databases. While there is some theory most the course will be focused on working with the latest version of Windows Azure.

This course will give YOU the foundation to become more comfortable working inside Windows Azure.

As a SQL Server Consultant I can tell you that many of my customers are MOVING to Windows Azure’s various cloud offerings.

As a matter of fact, 30% of Fortune 500 companies use Azure at some level.

There are still many LIMITATIONS and nuances to moving SQL Server Databases to the cloud. We will discuss many of these in the course.

The code, applications, and TOOLS (like Management Studio) you already use today with your existing databases can be used with Azure SQL Database. Windows Azure patches the database software and backs up your database, storing the backups for a user-defined retention period and enabling point-in-time recovery.

Nov 202 and none of my Azure screens look anything like the screens in the training so it's hard to recreate steps on my own account.

El curso va muy directo a la explicación, lo cual es bueno ya ajusta el tiempo de dedicación, pero en algún caso me hubiese gustado mas detalle en la explicación así como que el curso fuese mas completo.

For a Azure SQL Architect lecture, really basic so far. Final Thought after class says you finished course on Azure SQL DB. The title of the course "Become an Azure SQL DB ARCHITECT". This was not an architect class but a basic Azure SQL DB class.

An introduction to using Azure SQL databases designed to be immediately effective. As usual, Mike reviews the important features of Azure, especially those features related to the database. Good job.

A good general overview of features. There were some options and features that were skipped over and I wish we could have covered those. An example on one dialog was "webhooks" - cannot remember the page but I'll have to go research that term, etc. Also, some of the portal features have changed since this recording, like "add new tile" - I could not find that anywhere.

Quite useful if you want to get up to speed really quick. Some materials may be outdated but still applies in the Azure environment. Will take other courses from this instructor.

I was happy to see the version of Azure in the video was very close to the latest version on Microsoft's site. This made it easy to follow along. What differences there were was easy to figure out so the course content was very relevant. The course gave me the incentive to get started with moving some personal and work-related databases to the cloud. Found a lot of motivation in this course!

I completed the course, and since I'm new to Azure but not to programming or SQL Server, it provided me with a quick overview of what's possible and how to navigate the interface. The trainer has a nice clear voice and the most important is that he does not rush through the subject, which is the problem with many instructors. By speaking slowly and displaying every step, it saves us time by not having to replay every section over and over, thanks for this. Now I'm ready to drill into Azure Mobile more in detail so I can have a complete application running on iPhone and Android.

Instructor spent too much time explaining simple features. This course is supposed to be an intermediate course designed for people that know how to click through simple dashboards. Also many of the dashboard items and links have changed on azure. I.e. "Data + Storage" is now "Databases" on the sidebar

For a mid to senior level DBA that is new to Azure, this is probably the best training I've ever seen. Picking through it on my own took way longer than if I had started here. Well worth the cost of the course and then some!

Great as a beginner course with plenty of demos. Probably the Architect word in the course name made me expect more technical depth. No mention of DACPAC method for schema migration.
