  • Learn about other types of joins such as self joins, cross joins, non-equi joins, and outer joins, and when it is appropriate to use them.

  • Use different types of joins to solve real-world query problems.

  • Understand the key differences between inner and outer joins.

  • Use non-equi joins to solve interesting problems such as calculating running totals.

Learning SQL Should Not Be Out of Your Reach

With so much information available on the Internet it's easy to get confused. You want to continue learning SQL but don't know where to start. SQL is deceptive, mysterious, especially if not explained well.

But it doesn’t have to be this way!

Nothing is worse than

  • Being excited to learn something new but not knowing where to start.

  • Wasting time learning the wrong features.

  • Being overwhelmed with options and not know which to use.

Imagine Having

  • Knowledge - Knowing how to quickly use joins to take your SQL to the next level.

  • Confidence - Feeling good that you’re on the right track.

  • Accomplishment - Having a sense of accomplishment that you've learned something most cannot.

  • Fun - Having fun learning SQL inner and outer joins!

By the time you’ve completed this course you’ll have an appreciation of joins, overcome your fear, and able to write queries combining data from multiple tables.

Now that’s cool!

Lots of good stuff here to make sense of what you may know so far, and to build on. Having some knowledge of T-SQL and a beginning look at joins would be useful to get the most from the course. Kris offers lots of materials to help if you want to cue this into other areas of T-SQL/SQL Server study.

This is a good course but very beginnish. I was disappointed there were no unions and no talk on performance optimization and comparison of different joint types.

Good, full explanation of outer and self joins with solid examples of how to handle diagnosing a poorly designed database and getting at the answers to questions managers ask.

Good experience. I wish the SQL code provided was in a .sql or .txt file instead of .pdf, but it is a minor thing. I also believe that a course like this, having table illustration examples, would be very beneficial. It is much easier to follow the complexities when I can see a picture of the table columns.

A truly outstanding course, really great. I had questions and they were answered. I really enjoyed the assignments. They made you think and gave you a chance to put into practice what you learned.

Yes this course is a good match, I am experienced with SQL but haven't worked with the language recently. I find the explainations expressed by the instructor in a very clear, easy to understand manner.

I like it that you introduced database diagrams early in the class and accurately described the thought process of what you need to know before even trying to code a query.

I learn that an Inner join really means that you are using two tables, that are related to produce a query result that matches, information requested from a query.
