Why take this course?

In many organizations, a variety of tasks is often assigned to an individual on a somewhat arbitrary basis and that becomes a “job”. This often random assignment of tasks can create many inefficiencies which result in low employee morale and low productivity. There is however a systematic and rational method of creating jobs so that the desired efficiencies are created. This process involves job analysis and job design. This course therefore seeks to emphasize the importance of analyzing the processes which forms a single task as well as ways and means to design tasks and jobs which will motivate the employee.

Strictly defined, compensation refers to the financial returns and tangible benefits which employees receive as part of the employment relationship.  Perceptions of compensation vary however for the major stake-holders and an understanding of the contrasting perspectives are also critical to the effective management of the system.  The potential for using the compensation system to influence employee’s attitudes and behavior needs to be recognized as a vital source for achieving a competitive advantage.

Good course overall; Some of the learning objectives listed were not met (e.g., design a basic salary survey, conduct a basic salary survey)

I think I would have given a better rating if there had been an assignment attached to the training course. That's a pity. I wish I could have been evaluated while following this course. The idea of preparing a draft compensation package is great, but if there's no feedback or assessment, then it loses its meaning. In addition, I could say that some modules are better developed than others. I really learned a lot with the job evaluation module, but I was still in the dark as to what to do after completing your module on compensation benchmarking. Concerning the module on compensation benchmarking, I decided to explore other sources on the same topics and develop my knowledge based on that instead. However, I am very satisfied with the module on job evaluation : I learned how to set a job evaluation system based on the point method. It is concrete, clear and I know what I could do with this method in my professional life. In other words, some of your modules should be reviewed as follows : - stick to the same idea from beginning to the end - talk about "methods that work" (e.g. benchmarking) and avoid developing on topics that do not (e.g. compensation survey in the module on compensation benchmarking) - keep illustrating your explanations with more examples or case studies, when needed. - make the format of this course longer if some topics are too difficult to deal with. - make it possible for students (on udemy) to be assessed.

I liked what I learnt and I feel fully capable of creating a compensation and benefit structure post finishing this course. It started with very basic points but eventually all the important details were covered. I feel the only back drop is there is no assignment submission - that is a put off. I would still recommend for folks who want to learn Job Design, compensation and benefit to opt for this course.

Course was very informative and very useful. But the only thing i did not liked about this course that they have mentioned there would be assignments but there are none. At least you should provide the assignment questions so that we could try it just like discussion post.
