Welcome to Jazz for the Curious Guitarist!  If you are ready to finally learn how to play real jazz guitar, then this course is for you.  I will take you from the very beginning to show you the basics of guitar playing through to a high level of jazz in which you'll have knowledge of all chords that exist, basic & advanced scales & arpeggios, rhythm, and music & guitar theory.

I start the course assuming that you don't play guitar at all.  I assume you are a complete beginner.  The first section of the course is all about teaching you the guitar basics to get you ready for the jazz lessons.  Every lesson video in this course has PDF attachments in the additional resources tabs.  Some lessons have multiple attachments.

The next five sections are the jazz lessons.  They are: Beginner, Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, & Expert sections.  The lessons are cumulative (each lesson builds on the previous lesson.)  We will work extensively on chords, scales, arpeggios, rhythm, music theory, and various jazz concepts.

Any kind of six-string guitar will work well for this course - electric guitar, acoustic guitar, or classical guitar.

It's well-known that many of the best guitarists in the world are jazz guitarists, so we have a lot of work to do, but I will get you there as quickly as I can!  I know exactly what you need to learn.  I know exactly how to teach you.

I'm excited that you're here!  The world needs more jazz guitar players.

This is going to be a lot of fun!  Let's begin.

Sets up the fundamentals very nicely which makes the next step easier to grasp. Only critical comment would be the audio quality, would've been even better to have both his voice and guitar more closely mic-ed or amplified.

Awesome! looking for secretes to unleash your jazz guitar playing? Here is an amazing place to be. Some basics are explained in a very easy to understand. Especially on a trick how to know the TAB! You'll be surprised how easy it is to relate and understand. So, this is definitely a worthwhile class to join. Thank you Dan! Also, by the time you get done halfway the course, some vital secretes are shared and no one could ever reveal clearly and precise as Dan did! Truly, some beneficial theory solidifying the foundation of guitar playing has been helpful. Thank you Dan!

Nicely organized where I am able to follow the progression of course content. I’ve never known so many chords! (Or how to figure out a chord formula.) Great pacing !

An inprogress evaluation. All of the Jazz theory, how to form chord shapes etc. you ever wanted to know but no explanation of how to use the theory, how to play using what is described in an actual song. If you are looking for theory, chord shapes, scales and modes this course is for you. If you are looking for demos of playing look elsewhere.

I am still in the beginning but already feel this course is gonna be great and sure the most complete about jazz guitar in this platform. The teacher is a kind of ordinary person, and this is very cool because he is a great teacher and dont need to be exagereated like many others. Great deal!

Bad presentation, Bad audio. Couldn't really make up what the instructor is saying. Wish that there is some sort QC process in Udemy!

I have been following four courses of Dan until now. Maybe, that was not necessary because the first one is more a sort of beginners course. However, I try to complete it as well because at times that is refreshing and the further you go you get new insights and ideas as well. Until now I Always considered myself as a moderate guitar player who could play a lot of songs using open chords. While these lessons have lifted my knowledge and I have become a better player. Not that I will ever be a really great player, but that is not my aim. One step at a time I try to improve and his lessons are easy to follow, he takes time and repeats stuff and it is good that you can go back to videos. I was a bit afraid to start this jazz course, for I thought this would be way to up for my level. Nevertheless it encourages to do more soloing. Okay, this will take time and practice and trying to play ahead with some of the exercises is at times still too difficult. Well, it learns me a lot more about the constitution of chords and extended chords, the fretboard and the different scales. So, if you want to learn more about playing guitar even if you are not into jazz at all, I can recommend this course for it it really helpful.

I had a basic understanding of some music theory, however these lectures are drilling deeper, and enhancing my knowledge. The challenge for me is to master playing what is being taught before I move on to the next lecture.

It's a comprehensive tutorial but... 1. The lessons are based on memorized patterns than actual jazz theory 2. There are wrong claims (like minor penta scale is same as blues scale. It's actually penta scale + b5) 3. The guitar is not his go to guitar and apparently has tougher strings so he has problems fretting and picks harder to produce the note. That causes unclear tones 4. Guitar has a terrible voice

The course is amazing the instructor is concise and very informative. I am very pleased with the level of professionalism. The instructor started off with the basics and is working up from there. I know a lot of the basics but I happy with the level of teaching because it brings everything into one mold. If you are looking for an excellent course well worth the money.

very good teaching and despite being a self proclaimed intermediate there were concepts that i had not started in blues guitar

Great course. I have been playing for about 7 years and have a basic understanding of music theory. I have hit a wall with my playing and I was looking for a course that could really push my playing into the jazz realm and ultimately improve my improvisation. Dan is very knowledgable and throws in lots of useful, practical information. He also keeps the course engaging and gives plenty of downloads for reference later on. This course is exactly what I was looking for and I couldn't rate this course highly enough. Thanks, Dan!
