Huw was amazing with explanations and covered a lot in a timely manner! I liked the adventure game example because it illustrated from the beginning to end how to use the knowledge for a complicated project!

It refresh my java back in the 90's, At that time I really don't know java very well as we are just started to learn them but then I got to move to other project. And that was "good bye" to java. Glad that I got the chance and able to enjoy this course as I was and "am" beginner. At the 90's we were in the design of objects etc which is rather very advanced. So I can said this course is really good for beginner.

Huw presents Java programming from the beginning, introducing all the basic concepts of Java. Using an advanced IDE like NetBeans helps quite a bit as there is very little fiddling around to get the IDE to work with the sample code, including the Spring framework.
He also provides a reference book with the course, which will be a useful in the future. Huw seems to have gone to great lengths to explain the basic principles of Java and many object oriented principles in a clear, concise and informative way.
I took the course mostly to refresh my Java skills as I've been away from it for a long time and wanted to both refresh my skills and learn what's new. If I were to provide any sort of constructive criticism I would suggest there should be more exercises to give the student the ability to try the concepts themselves. Not much more I can add.

Very well explained in very simple terms! The delivery rate was very good. The use of NetBeans is a bit confusing, I would have preferred to see the examples coded from scratch!

Huw knows his subject and has taken extraordinary care to present it. Very responsive instructor. It would be really a master course if the following topics are covered,
1. Database connectivity(JDBC)
2. Multithreading.

The instructor is very clear and precise in his explanation of the concepts. And the videos are interesting to watch.
I would have preferred a more hands on approach with exercises and practice questions.

This is my first course I have completed on UDEMY after owning quite a few from various teachers and I must say Huw Collingbourne is one of the best.
The course is very engaging and covers a wide variety of programming concepts.
The course title can be misleading "The Master Course" as this is more aimed at beginners than more advanced programmers.
I would like to see a second course from Huw in Java covering various real world applications and problem solving rather than covering the concepts.
Excellent course and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get into Java.

Video presentation is impressive. Instructions are clear and instructor speaks clearly. Course is informative, but would not recommend for a beginner. This course felt more like a refresher. Gave 4 stars because lack of labs and solutions. Programming exercises would have made it a 5!

Huw is one of the most interesting and dedicated lectures on Udemy. He always goes deep to the core coding knowledge in all of his courses. In the Java Programming course you are going to master programming skills that are difficult to find in any other course. It is a mere pleasure watching the videos and following the subtle logic that encapsulates the whole course.

I am extremely happy with my progress toward learning to program in java. The instructor is both knowledgeable and an excellent teacher. I have downloaded the videos so the instructor is never offended if I need to walk away or do something else for a while. He also never gets red in the face when I want him to repeat something many many times. <grin> I recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn java on their own schedule.
