We will go back thousands of years into the past, focusing on the land where the river Nile flows - Egypt. Go through the different dynasties that existed in the past. Learn about the mighty Pharaohs and their grand pyramids and temples, some of which are still standing down to this very day. Walk with me through the ancient Egyptians' daily lives!

The instructor did a great job of introduction to Egyptology. I will take more of her courses in the future.

Course could have been more elaborative given the content. More pictorial representations could have been used. A few stories of ancient Egypt or gods and goddess would have made the session more interesting. Though it was a great learning experience.

A very good and instructional look into Ancient Egypt. Recommended for all whose interests lay in this area. Because of the fine detail in this course, I would welcome access to the notes used in this presentation.

Far to fast narrative hard to understand accent have to keep pausing and going back to listen way to fast and I have a quick mind it’s just rushing through

I know is says it's for beginners, but this was very simplistic and populist with for example the inordinate amount of time spent on Cleopatra VII as an example. I'm not sure where the lecturer got her pronunciation of many of the names from, but it was nothing like I've ever heard before.

Having gone to Egypt I was looking forward to this lecture. I found the instructor fumbling over their words, giving a lot of "information" on sizes of tombs but not a lot of information about the tombs themselves. Over all it was okay if you don't know much about Egyptian history or if you are more interested in dimensions rather then facts.

The video is watermarked with the software companies logo and some of the names and words are mis-pronounced. There isn't much information in the course that I couldn't get from reading a few articles online. Those mispronunciations were like listening to nails on a chalkboard after awhile.

Enjoyed this course! A lot of material put together in a very organized and interesting fashion - the last lecture with additional material was the best of all! It is a very good overview of a truly big topic. I wish there had been a section on hieroglyphics and the Egyptian language, or about famous archeologists and what they discovered, or an explanation for why Egyptian art and culture didn't seem to change at all for a good two thousand years. But of course, only so much can be covered in an introduction. I look forward to taking the course on Ramses next.

I liked all the Bonus stuff at the end and all the pictures that were included in the lectures. However, some videos in Egypt would have been great.

This course is introductory--it covers a lot of information very quickly; however, it is organized well and provides interesting information, setting the stage for Jenell's other courses.
