Why take this course?

If you're interested in 3D printing but haven't even purchased a printer yet, this course is made for you. A few years ago I took the plunge and bought myself a 3D printer. Since then I've been teaching other people about 3D printing at home.

Allen M says: "Far more interesting than I would have thought for an introductory course. Just enough to show me that I can achieve what I want, relatively easily. Some things to avoid. A very practical course."

Brandon V says: "Thank you Jason for sharing with us some of the essentials of 3D printing. I am grateful for your efforts, as well as the additional links to more information... Thank you!"

In this course I'll teach you what 3D printers are, how they work, tips for purchasing one and how to use it to create amazing 3D prints.

Many people are too scared to purchase their first 3D printer because they don't really know what's involved in buying and running one. I felt like this myself once, so don't worry.

I now know exactly what's involve and that's what I'll teach you here. I'll also demonstrate the process of designing a simple chess piece using two free design tools, Tinkercad and OpenSCAD. This will give you a feel for what's involved in inventing and designing your very own products.

Even if you don't want to buy your own 3D printer yet, after going though these lectures and examples you'll be able to start designing products immediately. I'll even show you how to outsource your printing to companies who have some of the best 3D printers in the world, so you can become involved in this amazing technology without ever having to purchase a 3D printer. It doesn't cost the earth either!

This course consists mainly of videos, slides and on screen demonstrations all created by myself. It should only take you a couple of hours to complete. It'll be a couple of hours very well spent though because afterwards you'll have all the knowledge and confidence to become involved in 3D printing quickly, cheaply and easily.

As I've found out myself, 3D printing is interesting and can be great fun too. Designing and selling your products can even be quite profitable. I love it and I'm sure you will too!

Thanks for taking an interest and I look forward to you being my student.

It gave me a good info. I wish my video wouldn’t continuously freezing. It didn’t tell me mush about the softwares where i can get it and how to learn it. I guess I’ll have to do my homework. At least now i have some ideas

I appreciate the attitude and approach of this course even though I am more advanced at 3d printing than some of the student content is designed for.

I am absolutely thrilled with the course. Learning the different places on the computer where I can begin was time-saving. Thanks man, your course makes me want to go and make something for Shapeways. :-) Thanks!!!

This was a great little beginner course, my son passed away in 2018 and I have been trying to figure out the 3d printer since then, with many failed attempts. I now realize my main problem is understanding the program he has. I am now going to experiment with Tinkercad. Here's hoping for success. Thank you again for your help, I feel more confident now.

As I knew nothing about 3D printers I thought this was a very good overview. The examples using the two different softwares to make a chess piece was particularly interesting, and a good way to see if this really was something to pursue. Thank you for an entertaining hour.

Good course but it ended up being a bit too basic for me. But it may help a ton of other people out there

Even though this is a fairly short course, I found it quite helpful. The topics of SCAD and photogrammetry were worth the cost.

This course was extremely short. I would have expected to at least see an example of a 3d printer creating something!

for getting started in this field, this was fantastic! As a complete beginner, i was asked about 3D printing a beer tap handle I sculpted and resin cast. I've been learning ever since about this technology;quick course, lots of info for beginners.

Was highly knowledgeable. He made this very easy to understand and the quizzes reinforced the program. The only problem was that his monotone made it difficult to follow the program.

The course gives a good basic overview but does not get into specifics of making a project from start to finish and that is what I was looking for. The CAD software demos are very basic. Pacing was good, however I would have enjoyed more depth and detail to the instructions.

Thank you Jason for sharing with us some of the essentials of 3D printing. I am grateful for your efforts, as well as the additional links to more information. Perhaps, you may see one of my designs on tinkercad one day. Thank you!
