Changing scenarios and distributed IT environments have made organizations susceptible to cyber threats, thereby fueling the demand for IAM solutions.

About ForgeRock:

ForgeRock is a multinational identity and access management software company headquartered in San Francisco, U.S.A. The company develops commercial open source identity and access management products for internet of things, customer, cloud, mobile, and enterprise environments. Fran Rosch is the CEO of ForgeRock. ForgeRock also has offices in Bristol, London, Grenoble, Vancouver (USA), Oslo, Munich, Paris, Sydney, and Singapore. ForgeRock has raised $140 million in venture funding from Accel Partners, Foundation Capital, Meritech Capital Partners, and KKR.

When Sun Microsystems was acquired by Oracle in January 2010, Sun’s open source identity and access management software was scheduled for phase out in favor of Oracle’s in-house product. ForgeRock was founded in Norway by a group of ex-Sun employees in February 2010 to fork the code and continue to develop Sun’s software.

ForgeRock provides digital identity management through its primary product, the ForgeRock Identity Platform. The ForgeRock Identity Platform includes

  • Access Management (based on the OpenAM open source project),

  • Identity Management (based on the OpenIDM open source project),

  • Directory Services (based on the OpenDJ open source project), and

  • Identity Gateway (based on the OpenIG open source project).

About OpenIDM 6.5.3[latest]

•OpenIDM is an identity management system written in the Java programming language.

•The old OpenIDM source code is available under the Common Development and Distribution License (CDDL). OpenIDM is designed with flexibility in mind, leverages JavaScript as default scripting language to define business rules during provisioning.

•All capabilities of OpenIDM exposes RESTful interfaces. As an integration layer, OpenIDM leverages the Identity Connectors (adopted by ForgeRock as OpenICF) and has a set of default connectors.

ForgeRock launched the OpenIDM project in October 27, 2010 at GOSCON in Portland following a 6-month internal development process.

OpenAM

•OpenAM is an open-source access management, entitlements and federation server platform.

•It was sponsored by ForgeRock until 2016. Now it is supported by Open Identity Platform Community.

•OpenAM originated as OpenSSO, an access management system created by Sun Microsystems and now owned by Oracle Corporation.

OpenDJ

•OpenDJ is an LDAPv3-compliant directory service, developed for the Java platform, providing a high-performance, highly available, and secure store for the identities managed by your organization.

•Its easy installation process, combined with the power of the Java platform, makes OpenDJ the simplest and fastest directory to deploy and manage. OpenDJ directory server comes with plenty of tools and also offers REST access to directory data over HTTP.

•OpenDJ is free to download, evaluate, and use for developing your applications and solutions. You can obtain and modify the source code to build your own version.

I like how the instructor explains in detail who this course is for and who it is not for. This helps me make informed decisions about my development.

Thank you for the basic understanding. It will be good if you arrange another session covering advanced topics like scheduler, live sync, role based provisioning, workflows etc. In the mean time could you please direct me to some path or document so that I can practice on various use cases.

Content is incomplete. Workflow, Live Sync, Selective Sync, Role based provisioning, Assignment, Setting relationship within managed objects, Managing devices and things, clustering IDM ..etc. are not explained. This course just cover very basic concept of IDM so not good for interview/certificate preparation. Sorry for giving such a less score but I felt of wasting.

This is very basic course to understand ForgeRock OpenIDM. Average communications and delivery of the course. No presentations, but uses ugly MSPaint. But this course is fine for beginners.

Course is ok, content is also ok though outdated by now as openIDM 6.5 is no longer available for download but thats not trainer's fault overall course gives a okok idea abt openidm BUT his English is atrocious to say the least. Due to this, instead of focusing on the course content, our full attention goes to deciphering what he is trying to say due to very very bad english. If you are trying to be a professional trainer, I would expect him/her to atleast have decent english and not hindi-translated-to-english word by word english. otherwise an okayish content but this is only basic course. proper implementation/integration in an application for authentication is not covered so that is should have been covered. Just adding users into openidm and do what with them? how to use it in real life is missing.

This course is amazing. It covers all the points from basics and gives a good outline about forgerock openIDM. The entire course is explained in a very simple language and is easily understandable.

IAM Beginners can find course helpful. But, I feel that the course is too lengthy for these topics. Topics like external idP with Forgerock, customising the login flow, etc would have added more value to the course.

I think the course is very well explained, however, I think powerpoint slides with some basic animations would have saved a lot of time of trainer Sandip in explaining the concepts. At this point in time the 6.5 version is not available on ForgeRock site and I tried following this course by installing 7.1 version, which I struggled a bit initially but I did it at last. I request Sandip to update this course following 7.1 version. Thanks

Good intro to OpenIDM for beginners. Much helped in configuring and installing the product. Anyways to learn deep actions with the console part this course is not sufficient. But overall I'm very satified with what course has offered. I would like to wait if author creates continuation course for this, which I believe will be coming soon. Cheers!!

It's a bit lengthy and too detailed, I'm skipping a few most of the time. Others might feel different but it is my opinion that this can be briefer.

Great course so far, only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the audio is inconsistent in some videos which makes comprehension difficult.

The course is good for people who wanted to start on ForgeRock. More time was spent explaining REST APIs the stuff which is not directly related. I thinkmore videos should be part of course about customizing identity with additional attributes and some business use cases covering workflow customizations.

Instead of theoretical some person like me want to train on practical only. Sorry for giving such a less score but I felt of wasting.

This course goes into the basics, so it clears all doubts/queries from the very start and the person can proceed with Forgerock OpenIDM installation. Also content is carefully designed and instructor is prompt in responding to our queries. I would also wish a followup advanced course on openIDM.

Good course, very good to start with. Cleared most of the segments. Expected some addition with customizations, yet to receive an update on the same.
