What you will learn

Keep all the random ideas you have each day organized

Never lose track of a note or idea again

Save all your creative ideas so you don't forget where they are

Avoid coming up with the same ideas multiple times because you forgot where you stored them

Description

Do you have a system for taking notes?

Do you have a system for organizing your notes?

Can you reliably find notes you took on a book or at a conference from 5 years ago?

What about a creative idea you had 5 years ago?

For most people the answer is no.

For most people, they would have a very hard time finding something from 5 months ago, or even 5 weeks ago.

Accelerated learning is about becoming more efficient in your learning.

But another way to look at is just a methodology so that you stop wasting huge amounts of time.

And one way we waste time is that we come up with the same ideas over and over again because we never write them down.

Or we write them down, but then we never do anything with them.

You may have heard about the idea of an ideas bank before.

Or something similar. A place to keep all your random notes in one place.

But it turns out that if you consistently do this for months and years, you end up with the equivalent of a spreadsheet with 10,000 + rows.

You may have started out thinking you would look over your list of ideas every month for 10 or 15 minutes. But after a year or two, it's more like 3-5 hours to read a list that long.

It's not a SUSTAINABLE system.

It turns out that the only smart way to use an ideas bank is to get stuff out of the ideas bank as quickly as possible.

It's called project based thinking.

Any idea that you have, at least 95% of them, are actually ideas that belong in a larger project of some kind.

You may not have a project set up yet, (and if you aren't sure how to do that, check out my vol 8 course in the learning the hard way series and my course on one pagerr project management) but that doesn't change the fact that most of the ideas you have are really just leaves on a tree. And that tree is a project.

Each project is a tree. And each idea you get is a leaf.

You need an ideas bank so you can get those "bags of leaves" that you collect in your phone or notebook or sticky notes and get them on the right tree where they belong.

That's why this course isn't just about building a place to store stuff and then never look at it again.

The ideas bank is the HUB of a larger system.

This system is design for keeping your micro-notes well organized.

If you've taken my courses on note taking and learning projects organization and information organization, you know how to organize your information. But only when it is a known quantity.

What about all those micro notes that don't fit into that system easily?

That's what the ideas bank is for.

It's kind of like the huge sorting facilities that UPS uses.

All the packages in a region get sent to a central sorting facility, and then they get shipped off by truck or plane to their destination city.

The ideas bank is that hub that will bring everything in one place so you can then send it off to it's final location.

Future courses in this series will cover specific types of structured notes you can keep for things that don't fit neatly into existing categories. For example, a mistakes journal, dream journal, physical object inventory, intellectual property inventory, etc.

You should make a video that contains what should we learn before fully understanding this course. hard to track all of these courses, cause it seems you put number volume but it's not ordered.

I took this because I had many started projects or ideas that I could not see it come to fruition or final product. Before content creation, before embarking on new learning or project, you need to organize your thoughts. In order to organizer your thoughts, you need categories. If you want to improve on execution of your ideas, this is the foundation you need. Towards the end on "semi-structured" and "unorganized notes," the concept is too high level that I need to start practicing or need more case studies to personalize this concept. I will take other courses Tim provides, but it will be helpful to see some case studies or do exercises together. Great course. Thanks!

Timothy Kenney has a great mind for organizing things. He doesn't disappoint with this course on how to capture ideas so that action can be taken on them within a reasonable or at least planned for the future time. This course fits well with his other courses, and is an important piece within the framework of his overall system for organizing general projects and learning projects. A template comes with the course so set-up is minimal from a logistics standpoint. From there you just need to input your ideas and the other data which he covers, use his color coding and status designations, and you're good to go.

I have bought several courses by this instructor. I like how clearly he presents the info and I LOVE watching him write it all out (who knew? lolol)

A great set of ideas well presented by Timothy Kenny in this course. I enjoyed the hand written live action presentation - this is how I think, so it meshed well with my learning style. I would have liked to see some real life examples of Kenny's work flow. I think the course could have been stronger if he'd shown a book filled with marginalia or a notebook of ideas and how those ideas flowed through the idea bank into the final destination. With the live action style of presentation these props would enhance the teaching. Kenny has an excellent voice with very clear speaking style. In fact, I was able to boost the speed to 2x without any loss of understanding. This speed boost let me get through the course in an evening, and start playing with my own version of an ideas bank the next day!

Thank You Timothy! This course gave me some interesting hints to categorize my ideas. Creativity is a great thing, but if there is no a good system that gives structure, much of the ideas are lost forever. For 200 € is expensive, but for 10 € I found it worthwhile and useful. So thanks to seasonals promotions of Udemy! :)

Another great addition to the overall learning, organization and planning framework taught by the author on his courses. Having taken several of his courses before I can say that this fits very well in his system. If you are new to his system however I would recommend starting with his general courses in learning, planning and organization.

The contnent might be interesting but thepresentationis appalling. Hand written teacing aids are bad enough but when the writing isillegible and the left handed writing obscures what is being written it is impossible to follow whatis being taught. Even for $12.99 this is not good enough. A more professional presentation is needed here.

Realistic, practical, sincere, efficient course. I'm coming from other Timothy's series courses, mastered Master Planning series/ Information and Object Organization series. I'm practicing for 6 months Timothy's system and results are amazing as minimum. This course is a part of a big, efficient system that will change your life. I recommend this course. Thank you, Timothy.

There is something here but so far it is very confusingly presented. "Other courses" are mentioned so maybe it would help to see the hierarchy of courses creating this whole system of organization. About 3/4 through I realized I wouldn't want to even attempt to learn this system. Far too confusing to me.

Lost my interest towards the end of the course. Potential learners should be informed before they purchase this course that various concepts are only available from the lecturer's other courses. The result is that oftentimes, you get confused about why he does certain stuffs, how to execute certain concepts etc. No solid examples. Poor explanation of the use of Idea Bank spreadsheet. Last lecture was the worst. A drawn out version of One Note doesn't even explain much if one is not familiar with it. Overall, very disappointing.
