Why take this course?

  • This course is logically designed to guide you through some of the complicated parts of static and dynamic analysis of malware, with IDA Pro. Instead of just introducing IDA features in a simple narrative way, we will work through interesting real world examples and samples. This way, each feature, tip or trick discussed will be put into context for easier learning. We will mainly cover IDA Pro for Windows and occasionally Linux, and introduce additional tools as well, like decompiler plugins, scripts and packers.

  • The course is very practical, focused on examples that can be done straight away. There are no pre-requisites for this class other that a Windows virtual machine and the will to learn. All the tools discussed are freely available online.

  • Neither professional programming experience nor assembly language knowledge are required to benefit from the course, although basic knowledge of both would be very helpful. The concepts will be explained clearly and concisely and additional resources are always available.

  • To get the most out of this course, we recommended doing all the exercises. You can post any queries or questions in the course Q&A section, and I will be more than happy to help.

The say in the course requirement that Assembly knowledge is not needed, i dont think this is true. Also some things needs to be explained in more detail. Some videos seems to be made for youtube.

Meet my needs actually. However, even in 720p, it's quite difficult to get a clear view on some screen parts. Fortunately, interactively manipulating tools mitigate this inconvenience. I think using clear themes instead of dark themes could improve the visual experience. Other than that, wonderful content and explanation, keep up the good work, and thanks for sharing this!

Very informative, covers a lot of ground quickly, unfortunately the recommended tools ended up not working on Windows 10, but found a work around using the dump function of Scylla_x86.

It was a very good learning experience, i learned some of the basics of interpreting assembly from the disassembler to interpret it and get the final result of the program then learned how to deal with values on the fly in the same class and also learned how to decrypt some of the basics layers of encryption from memory on ram then backing up the program memory into ida database to save the decrypted section in the ida db without run the debugger again and making the reversing more easier, later we talked about of hows int, floats and doubles looks into the disassembler with compiler optimizations and without and how it affect to the process of reversing an application, a very good course i would like to see more like this course from this instructor, was a very good experience and very fun, Thank you, post data i will take a look to your youtube channel since i have seen you have more tutorials about RE.

The audio might need scrubbing to remove background noise/fuzz on some of the video, otherwise content was good for a beginner. Cheers.
