If you've ever dreamed of "owning a print greeting card business," then this is the class for you. This class is intended for the folks who want to learn basic card making and selling cards to retail shops, online, or have their own brick and mortar stores. You'll learn the ins and outs of the greeting card business including how to make your art, design your card, print it, and prepare your cards for distribution in card stores all across the land. You'll learn about companies that carry inventory and have a "Line" of cards. I started my card company with 24 designs; 24,000 in all and walked the aisles of the NYC Stationery Show. I practically walked up and down gorgeous and trendy Newbury Street in Boston looking for accounts in order to grow my business back in the late 1980s.

With the technology on your phone, iPad, and computer, "anyone" can design and sell greeting cards. However, you will still need to have that hunger to make a go of it. Inside this course, you'll learn what it takes to succeed and mistakes to avoid. You'll learn a lot more than you think on preparing artwork for print and the web. And the best part is this course is constantly changing. As I learn more, or find more information, I'll share it with you. It will be like having a trusted mentor to lean on! Many people have made small fortunes on creating greeting cards, so if you like to write and draw and have a "look" that you feel comfortable seeing on your own cards, I can help you get that business off the ground.

If you think the printed card is dead, think again. In 2015, two naval engineers turned greeting card inventors/entrepreneurs gained an investment of $300,000 from "Mr. Wonderful," Kevin O'Leary into Lovepop. Their success enabled them to receive additional funding of $12.5 million in 2018. Their unique card design won the hearts of buyers of paper greeting cards. Wombi Rose and John Wise became best friends at Webb Institute training to become naval architects. Years later while on a Harvard Business School trip to Vietnam, Wombi and John discovered the incredible paper art form of kirigami and were inspired. The duo took their engineering background and combined this ancient art with the sliceform structure used in ship design to develop Slicegami™, and Lovepop was born.

You'll learn a lot of stuff like picking the correct paper, learn about traditional offset printing, distribution, getting reps, and more. We'll also touch briefly on homemade cards as well.

With two greeting card companies under my belt, and over 25 years experience, I'll show you how to "Jump Start" your career with some great advice. I started the course with 25 lectures and have added 12 more over the last year alone! Plus you'll even get some added bonus material on licensing! Join today and make it your business to make people smile!

This is an Intermediate course, but it's still packed with a lot of great information that anyone starting a design company can appreciate!

The course was very good! It made me more aware of the vast application areas of design; you don't have to limit yourself to greeting card design solely. I took a brief detour from this course mid-trip to learn about basic Photoshop techniques for free ( so that I could follow Nicholas' layering, cropping techniques and so forth more readily. This course is ideal for this pandemic lockdown space in time - I, like so many have a bit more time to explore our creative abilities and how this may provide a more enjoyable and lucrative income stream! Thank you Nicholas.

If you're going to watch his lessons I recommend to change the speed to at least 1.50 speed since he is slow and repeats information. Basically talks about the same thing for 12 mins that can be said in 2 mins.

He seems unorganized, There was a video watched of bubbles while he was talking. I have not learned anything of value thus far. Would NOT recommend !

Alright, So this course is helpful for people like me, who are complete neophytes to the wonderfully elusive world of greeting cards. Surprisingly there are not a lot of resources in 2019 on the web for how to start a greeting card company (no "Dummies" book, unfortunately) and this course was good at breaking the ice of how the industry works. I would recommend this course for complete novices, like myself, who have creative ideas but are still a little muddled as to how to execute them into a greeting card business.

I'm more interested in selling handmade cards online, so this might not be the best fit for what I want to do.

It is not what i expected from this course, no hands-on examples i feel this should be a free course for absolute beginners.

Loved the course. So much great information. Very helpful to me to decide which way to go. Thanks so much.
February 15, 2018
Not overly impressed and feel that it should have been a free video. I was looking for more hand-made cards, so it really didn't suit me at all. Most of the videos I just skipped and they were a bit boring. Ive got to the end and feel like ive just wasted my money sorry dude.

Clear, easily understood instruction. I am interested in learning how to market and mass produce cards. I see that will come later.
February 18, 2017
this was not what I expected. I was looking for something to show me how to sell my greeting cards - to get into retail stores, how to find a rep.. not how to design my cards. I'm sure if that is what I was looking for, I would have given it a higher rating. but this course did not meet my needs. :-(

Great course to get started with! And the instructor Nick, is very attentive with helping and answering questions.

This course inspired and motivated me to continue my dream of designing and selling greeting cards. The information provided really helped me understand the industry in a new light. I also learned that it will require a lot of devotion, practice and marketing. I now know I'm up for the challenge.

I learned a lot from the overview of how to create a greeting card. The course also gave good information on tools to use to create your own artwork, choosing a printer and more. I only wish there was more time given to designing and perfecting a greeting card.
October 5, 2015
Although this is only an introductory course, Nicholas has laid an easy to follow step by step process that covers the design, printing and distribution. This could also be applied to other products besides greeting cards.
