How to draw hairy creatures in Photoshop...

Maybe it's the age of the course but the instructor is not very responsive to questions. I see the same question I asked 2 days ago is unanswered and someone else asked the same question as I did 2 years ago and that too went without a reply.

I would like it if he spoke more about how to do something and why hes doing it. I just felt like I was his buddy sitting watching him draw.

Lots of great tips and tricks. Fantastic tutorial for P-shop concept painting. As a beginner, I enjoyed it immensely.

For me 5 stars, the teacher show you how to use different brushes and styles to create characters with furry.

Yes, I feel it was a great match for my skill set. He's such a great illustrator keeping up is a challenge! Also, some more info on brush pressure, the reasons behind creative choices - even doodling.

One can almost feel the art as it seeps down into the conscious brain. Not the traditional style of training.. and that is a good thing.

First off, if you're going to do this course, you better get a helmet. The instructor really does know what he's doing, he doesn't sugar coat anything. You learn a lot about his technique and detailing process first hand in real time. And while I learned a lot from his lessons. I had him at 75% speed the whole time and he was still jumping around so much that its hard to keep up with him much less know where his cursor is. I would have slowed him down to 50% speed if I could have understood him. I actually had to stop on the second to last video because the more I worked my picture the worse it became. All in all a great lesson for learning some expert level techniques. I have already recommended it to others. On a side note. the instructor really didn't seem very up beat for a lot of the lessons despite telling us/himself that working on this stuff was relaxing.

This is the first time I've done a review and I'm still working on course. The instructor was very clear and engaging. I'm not finished with the course but the first two lesson is perfect for me. I can't wait to finish the course I'm learning so much just with the one brush. I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Mr. Scalf loving the course.

Really helpful and great explained course. It is also easy to follow. I love how with this techniques great results can be achieved quite fast.

Chris has excellent skills, both in his digital knowledge as well as explaining his process in simple, easy to understand terms.

Whilst im fairly proficient in Photoshop ive never really had the courage to sit back and just sketch and work through a complete image start to finish, completely hand rendered. This Course is a start to finish guide through sketching and producing ideas quickly and efficiently and yet opens the way for some exceptionally tight and finished artwork. The techniques are laid out very clearly and descriptions for settings and brushes are well explained with reasoning and practical guidance on their usage in various scenarios. Chris Scalf has a calm and chilled presence through the course and sometimes wanders off into his own world whilst explaining things which simply adds a wonderful and friendly atmosphere to the guidance and makes the whole course a pleasure to watch. Whilst the end results which you see Chris produce will take a bit of practice, its certainly possible to sit, work through his techniques and very quickly (within 5 hours) have produced an end result that will amaze a lot of people with its quality. The thing here is that this is a basis for a technique that will evolve with you; its the ground work on a limitless technique that can be loosened or tightened to produce everything from quick sketches to full blown photo realistic work with nothing more than extra time and care. an amazing course that is crammed full of very high quality guidance and technique. Chris was also on hand to answer a couple of questions and he explained the answers thoroughly and very well. all in all a superb course!
