Conduct media interviews

Interview experts, authors, guest and colleagues for podcasts and talk shows

Look comfortable and confident on video while interviewing people

Appear conversational when asking well-researched questions

Why take this course?

Journalism-you can become a skilled media interviewer. Imagine yourself conducting interviews with news-makers, industry experts and colleagues and appearing confident and authoritative the whole time. Wouldn't it be nice to know how to look and sound your best and come across as a skilled interviewer anytime you have a chance to ask people questions on video or audio?

In this How to Conduct Interviews Journalism course you will learn the following:

  * How to conduct interviews with newsmakers and industry experts for video and audio programs and podcasts.

  * How to appear comfortable and confident on camera

  * How to prepare questions in advance

  * How to rehearse using video

*How to prepare for a career in broadcast journalism

This journalism course is delivered primarily through spoken lectures. Because the skill you are learning is speaking related, it only makes sense that you learn through speaking.

The skill you will learn in this class is not primarily theoretical or academic. It is a skill that requires physical habits. That is why you will be asked to take part in numerous exercises where you record yourself speaking on video, and then watching yourself. Learning presentation skills is like learning how to ride a bicycle. You simply have to do it numerous times and work past the wobbling and falling off parts until you get it right.

This journalism course contains numerous video lectures plus several bonus books for your training library.

TJ Walker has been coaching and training people on their presentation and journalism skills for 30 years. Now, through the power of Udemy's online platform, he is able to give you the same high quality training that he gives in person to CEOs, Fortune 500 executives, and Presidents of countries. Only you can now receive the training at a tiny fraction of the normal fee for in-person training.

How long this course takes is up to you. The longest part of the course involves you speaking on video, critiquing yourself, and doing it over until you like it. But if you get to the point where you love how you look and sound when you present it will be well worth the time spent. And having this skill will save you time for all future media presentations in your life.

You can begin improving your media presentation skills right now. You may have an opportunity to speak out as soon as tomorrow, so why waste another day worried that your media presentation skills are not up to high standards. Enroll in this course today.

"5 Stars! I love the way Tj delivered the main points of recording yourself and highlighting what you did and did not like about yourself. That is the best way to see what our strengths and weaknesses are. Great course and the books are a plus!" Udemy student Rolando Castro

I am bailing on this. I work in print and the overemphasis on video is not helpful to me at all. The prep and formation of questions deserved a more thorough consideration. That left me with the feeling this prioritizes style over substance. Big lesson: I should have done more homework on the course content before paying for something that is not useful to me.

I found it very interesting, I am radio presenter so its something that would definitely come in handy.

This course was great, even though I expected to see more videos about the interview itself. So if you could just upload more videos on how to conduct a video and the major issues (e.g. how to deal with people that dodge your questions or so), that would be great :-)

While I don’t disagree with the “practice makes perfect” philosophy of this course, I would also say it doesn’t provide any direct instructions on how to best conduct an interview. It does a great job of reinforcing the idea that practice helps, to be self critical but not harsh, and other great ideas for this or any new task you undertake. I get that interviewing can be an art as much as a science, but even a general framework for an interview would have been nice - things like speaking cadence, rephrasing questions as you listen to responses, or really anything specific to the mechanics. The instructor is great in offering up his time to answer specific questions, but sometimes it is hard as a complete novice to know what you don’t know. Original contextual guidance from the instructor would be a great addition to this course.

At first I wrote, "So far, everything seems to be on point." After I finished the entire course, I am convinced I made the right choice in selecting this course--especially consider the PDF that is attached it. I plan to put these easy-to-understand exercises into use.

ask intelligent questions, don't need to get to all of the questions, don't read your questions, these are all things I've seen people do and I'm so glad this is covered in the course.
