I love how he explains what he's doing; the forced legato, the modulation, selecting the lower notes, invert, shift i; all of these things are new to me, even though I've had three teachers teach me music production. I've already learned more in the first 32 minutes of this course than the past 2 years making music in Logic Pro; for a much much less price than what I paid a teacher per hour.

This was what seemed to be a complete tutorial on the basis of orchestra string composition. The teacher is very knowledgeable on all the details of applying the specifics in string technique. The problems I had were in pronunciation. His accent is rather strong and I would need to go back to ask, what did he say here or there. And the closed captions were hilarious. As CC tried to interpret his words they posted some of the funniest interpretations. For example when he said Ostinato....CC would post Austin Auto. One other thing I discovered was that I would need to learn definitions first, all of the musical terms such as Staccato, arpeggio, allegro...all of them. But I will say I sensed the enthusiasm of the teacher and he had passion for what he was teaching.

For the reduced price it is a really great introduction and overview how to create music with strings. The tips are great but a kind of additional "Cheat-Sheet" with the tips for each section would be really great.

This is a very app-specific / library-specific course. If you have an alternative DAW - I own Reaper - to Logic Pro or libraries that don't offer the articulations that the presenter owns, your experience is going to be ordinary. I learned very few new tips. For the total beginner, it might be useful but someone intent on upping their game, not worth the time.

I would have liked part of the Sheet Music To be done on the scoreboard as well, to be a combination of software space and score writing. Overall it was good and I liked it.

Very clearly and enthusiastically presentated. I mainly needed this course for writing strings part in songs in the genres singer-songwriter, rock and pop. This course goes beyond my needs, but there was a lot of great and useful advice for my simpler compositions.

Mike does an excellent job explaining a LOT of aspects of string arranging that would have been much harder for me to piece together via multiple searches, on the internet. I didn't 'get' Mike's presentation skills, initially, but no I'm thinking 'WOW!,' continually, as I progress through the lessons. Highly recommended. I look forward to learning from all his other courses. Yes, he really IS that good. Very clear and concise -> inspiring. Easy to listen to and follow. Thank you, Mike!
