What you will learn

How to crush the image-based lighting workflow in Blender.

The real benefits of using High Dynamic Range images for illuminating your 3D scenes.

How to capture the full 360° high dynamic range panorama inside Blender

Knowing the light qualities and how to analyze them to create eye-popping 3D art

Why take this course?

In this course Gleb Alexandrov from Creative Shrimp shows how Image-based lighting is an opportunity to achieve astounding realism.

If you've just started tinkering with HDR image-based lighting in Blender,
it may seem daunting. So hard to control the direction of light (Gimme
the rim light, you, Blender!). Even harder to avoid a blown-out
background.

On top of that, there seems to be so many things to wrap your head around: High Dynamic Range, 32-bit textures, Tone Mapping...

But actually, this workflow is MUCH easier than you might have thought. I promise.

After watching this step-by-step guide, you'll get the super powers to crush the image-based lighting in Blender.

All the project files are included, so you can follow along with video tutorials

Moreover, Greg Zaal has kindly offered us a couple of amazing 2k HDRI environments from the HDRI Haven website.

Great tips. These tips are still helpful without losing context, even when Blender has reached so far up to version 3.4. Thanks for making this course available.

I definitely learned! However, I think the course needs an update as, I feel blender, has changed quite a lot. Either way, thanks for teaching us how to use HDRIs properly. There was too much stuff I had no clue they even existed. Cheers,

All this while whenever I rendered any scene, the renders were always an average cause of the lighting. But this course material has been really helpful with such amazing knowledge. My renders are coming out amazing now compared to the ones before.

I've taken many Udemy Blender courses, this one packs a wallop. Had no idea you can the things Big Gleb will do. I'm not a Blender expert... by no means...but these hotkey tricks are - WOW.

1. Although I finished the course some time ago, I'm happy that now it's also available via Udemy and accessible more easily. 2. I don't think I need to recommend a course that has already been viewed by 10.000+ users, but in case you haven't joined it yet, here's what you'll find: 3. All the basic stuff about lighting in Blender, including how to use all the standard lamps and how to use them to get interesting results. 4. All the rather complicated theory behind HDRI's presented in a very easy to digest way. There's information how to use in a standard way and examples how to be more creative and for example mix different HDRI's and also manage the image from the HDRI caught by the camera separately. 5. Probably all the information you need to know to start using the new Blender feature: Filmic color management. 6. PS. I'm happy to have access to the impressive collection of Greg Zaal's/HDIHaven HDRI's and I think there're really worth trying. I'd also recommend Greg Zaal's Blender add-on, called "Gaffer". It really makes it easier to browse a large collection of HDRI's and change lots of parameters of them without ever going to the node editor.

The sample files are not as in the tuturial videos. There are some lack of it. Maybe the course is not updated.
