Shoot an HDR 360 panoramic photo using a standard DSLR camera and a PC for stitching and making it beautiful.

Why take this course?

This course will teach you how to shoot and stitch HDR panoramic photos that are suitable for IBL lighting in 3D software. Parts of the workflow can be skipped such as dropping the HDR aspect to simply create stunning panos.

The terminology used here is basic photography concepts and a minimum of Visual Effects ideas.

The course is broken into 3 main sections, including Overview and Preparation, Shooting the Panorama, and Processing your photos.

Included materials will be 4 complete sets of wedged photos used to make example panoramic images. Also there will be introductions to alternative free and shareware software that one can use to achieve the same result without any additional purchasing.

Depending on the level of the student this course could take from 2 to 4 weeks. The reason it could take longer is because it takes time to get outside and shoot lots of photos, and there will be a learning curve the first couple of times as the student gets familiar with the process that fits his or her camera equipment.

Any visual effects TD who wants to take their skill and knowledge to the next level will surely advance professionally by learning how to shoot and process high dynamic range panos. Also any experienced photographer can add a completely new and striking type of image capture to their portfolio with always stunning panoramic photography.

I liked the course for the most part, but it needs an update because some of the programs that are used have changed in the interface. One thing I did not like was that one of the programs used "Nuke" costs $10,000 and is impractical for me to purchase.

The course was amazing, even if I'm not new to 360 HDR photography, I still got amazing tips from this course that I will apply to my workflow. I would say that i wanted to see more of editing the 360 panoramas in PS (final touches) and more examples about this in photomatix as well. Thank you Jon for your amazing course :)

Fantastic Course. Great instructor. Can't wait for the next courses. Might be best to have a little understanding of subject before you start this course otherwise the terminology may be a bit hard to follow.

Gracias por el curso, es bueno siendo un rápido recorrido por las herramientas y procesos, mas siento que hay temas que han quedado incompletos, como el tema de las máscaras en ptgui y el control de puntos para un correcto stich de imágenes. Para quien inicie en este campo es perfecto ya que todo esta ahí muy claro para que cada cual explore de una vez lo que se debe hacer en un pipeline de producción de fotos 360. Gracias

Very helpful and skillful information tightly compacted into easy-to-follow instruction. I already had a basic understanding of digital photography as well as 360 panoramas, so I was able to ingest this course in one sitting. I did however, take now of several take-aways that I am sure will improve my images in the future. I can't wait for those photogrammetry courses!

I've literally done thousands of 360 panorama images for my job. We have a little bit of a simpler workflow, but there were several advanced topics in here that I will be sure to try in the future. We are also trying to move into the AR aspect of our scene documentation and the ideas in this course (as well as your future courses) will help a lot. Thank you!

Excellent course. I work in VFX and work with HDRI pano spheres everyday. I took this course to help with a personal project I am working on and it was perfect to help me make my own home set up for doing 360 HDR panospheres. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in HDR photography, VR, or VFX.

Really loved this class. It answered all the questions I had about pano photography. It was really easy to follow along with the class. I learned so much about all the equipment it takes (camera etc) and how to use the software to get great results.
