What you will learn

Use Godot to develop games.

Why take this course?

In this course we will go through one of my personal favorite game engine - Godot

Godot is an open source game engine, which is pretty amazing considering just how awesome it is.

We will go step by step through the features of Godot. Then, when we are comfortable with the engine we will start by creating some games.
First we will create a two player game - Pong

Afterwards we will create a clone of Super Mario Brothers. You will be provided all the necessary assets such as the Character sprites, environments etc. So that you can follow along the course without any problems.

You will learn and understand just how games work and how small details function, such as collisions and character movement.

We will use Vector math to calculate collisions, we will create our own physics for our game, so that we have full control of the game world.

All this, and more, will be covered in this course.

This is a very good course to understanding the basics of Godot Engine, with the pace and themes shown being interesting. However, there's still are mobile development classes to be made by the creator, so this review isn't complete until then.

It didn't explain anything about selecting a path for a new project. It didn't explian how to set the path to desktop. It dosen't show how to navigate on Godot. I can't se the resolution box on the right. How do I scroll to it? I did the func_process(deltal): command I got notthing and filein use or lacking permission etc.

Good choice of games for beginners. One of the best free tutorials for Godot game engine. Hope to see more!

I enjoy the course, hope you do something with the 3D. Took your Unity course but found this one easier to follow. Will stick with Godot going forward. Thanks Dragan

There is room for greater explanation on certain things like what delta is, after using Godot for several months I still don't fully understand what that means. There also could be little quizzes added to check for understanding or allowing the student to try a challenge based on what was just taught before giving away the solution. On the other hand, the end result is quite good, the Mario-Clone is fun and providing the sprites is a really nice touch. I've asked a few questions but did not get answers so I'm not sure the instructor monitors the course. Overall though, I recommend for anyone looking to create a platformer for Godot.

The course assumes basic programming knowledge, which I believe is a very good decision because these skills can be acquired separately and it becomes tedious to have to sit through a programming primer with each "Learn Engine / Toolkit X" course :) It's easy to understand and shows two actual games being developed in Godot engine. What I would wish for would be a more thorough explanation of the engine itself. At the beginning, there is a cursory explanation of scenes and nodes in Godot, but many other concepts and workflows are simply used during the development of the two games rather than being introduced first.

Excellent course, great fun ! Godot is much easier the Unity even though it has its own programming language. Recommended for any game developer new to the platform

I think the code in the scripts could be a little cleaner. Breaking in more functions and applying the SOLID principles would be great. The tools and didactic for beginners is great though.

A lot of usefull stuff in this course, but it is a very basic begginer course. It does not pick Advanced topics like using FMS, TileMap or using node inheritance in the user code. Maybe it will be all added in the upcoming lessons.

Very good course for beginners. As a programmer I was a little bored, I expected a more advanced project. However the course helped me to familiarize myself with the godot environment.

I think overall this is a good course. I would like it better if it followed better gaming practices and utilized the features of Godot rather than doing things the hard way.

parle rapidement et pas toujours clairement, le système a d'ailleurs parfois des difficultés à traduire
