Our Professional Diploma course on using Runes as a form of divination teaches that the origins of runes run deep and over the centuries, they have been used to protect, to cast spells, to foretell the future, or to provide answers to specific questions. Runes have also been used as a form of communication. In this course, we use Elder Futhark runes. You will need to use the same runes for your studies.

There is a great deal of information within this course and to do justice to your rune casting, you need to take the time to learn the runes one by one. Please work through this course in order but do take your time.

I gained a stronger foundation with the breakdown of the Elder Futhark into the three Aett's - very helpful in grounding. Three Aett's versus Three pillars. It was confusing early in the manual when Dr. Wells refers to the Third Aett as Haeg's Aett but she resolves that in later chapter by referring to it correctly as Tyr's Aett. I would have liked to see her better explain the two Gods representing each Aett: Freyr's/Freya's Aett; Hagal aka Haeg aka Heimdall's / Mordgud's Aett; and finally Tyr's / Ziza's Aett. A little more information about the relevance of the male and female Gods embodying each of the three Aett's. Would have been nice to hear a little more about the evolution of Runes from Elder to Younger Futharks to present sets and the addition of Wyrd.

I am pleased that I selected this course in Runes. The tone of the instructors voice is calming and perfect for learning. I especially like the pdf document and the fact that you are encouraged to refer back to it often. The reiteration of knowledge over and over is critical when learning a new skill and in this course, the teacher, Dr. Karen E. Wells, does an excellent job at conveying this and gently encourages the student to refer back to it and as often as needed. This methodology in teaching and learning certainly DOES encourage learning and INCREASES retention rate by doing the "labs" if you will, often. Very pleased! :)
