Construct four different eightfold Islamic geometric patterns
Trace, transfer and tile the pattern to create a larger composition.
Create an interwoven effect.
Add colour and create different finishes using watercolour pencils and paints.
Create a subtle 3D effect by outlining in paint or metallic pen.
Why take this course?
In each of the four Sections you will learn to construct a different Islamic Geometric Pattern using a compass and ruler.
Section 2: An Itimud Ud Daula Pattern - The Mausoleum Walls
Section 3: A Bou Inania Pattern - The Wooden Jaali
Section 4: An Alhambra Pattern - The Static Geometric Rosette Variation
Section 5: A Moroccan Pattern - The Classic Zellige
These patterns each have a different underlying grid all based on one circle being divided into eight. Once the pattern is constructed, you will see how to trace, transfer and tile the pattern in to a bigger composition.
I will also provide alternative tilings and variations so that you can create a final composition of your choice. I will complete each unit by showing you how I use watercolour pencils and paints on watercolour paper to create a final colourful composition for each unit.

Each individual video is very clear and well-done. For the course as a whole, I would have appreciated more focus on the patterns themselves, and less on the transferring and painting.

This is the second course I purchase from Samira, and it is such a good continuation of the first one: it builds on the skills I've already learned, and also introduces new techniques, and tips and tricks (aside from the new, more complex designs).
This has helped me create pieces I am very proud of, and that is all thanks to Samira's clear explanations and patience, as well as her answers in the comments section, where she is very active.

I cannot recommend this course enough. Samira explains everything so well and the classes are easy to follow and very enjoyable. She’s got a beginners course that I recommend starting with.

You haven't given enough content that should have been given
furthermore there are no further courses of yours to follow the work on udemy
lastly this course only teaches how to imitate and doen't make us capable even to try new geometrical patterns .Iexpected this course to make me a bit independent.

This course was my first ever form of training with Islamic Geometric Design. I knew I'd loved the sacred geometry behind life around us, seeing the natural world reflecting back to us so many universal truths that can be transformative.. in a spiritual way! So to be able to come across Islamic Geometric Design, and an instructor as thorough and passionate as Samira, is such an amazing thing! I'm currently completing her second course, and I am in love! En el año 1981 compré el libro "Arabic Geometrical Pattern & Design" con la idea de dibujar en algun momento y en el futuro estos increibles y bellos motivos. Pasaron los años y no pude hacer nada bueno, El tema resultó más difícil de lo que imaginaba.
Este breve curso abrió las puertas de mi comprensión indicandome con claridad magistral la forma en que se construyen estas increibles creaciones tan solo con una regla y un compás.
Siempre me atrajo el arte Islámico. Hoy, gracias a este curso, estoy más interesado y entusiasmado por este arte sabiendo que no solo podré admirarlo sino también practicarlo.
Sería muy interesante disponer de un curso que amplíe los conocimientos para quienes se interesen en la construcción de diseños más complejos.
