Why take this course?

As teachers, we all want our classes to be filled with happy students learning English. And we know it takes a lot of different skills, like classroom management skills, to make that happen. These keep our classes organized so students know what do and how to succeed so everyone can have a great time in class. And, they're especially important in English as a Foreign/Second Language (EFL/ESL) classes because students have to learn in a language they don't always understand.

Master Classroom Management for Awesome Classes Teaching Kids English

In this course you will:

  • learn what children need, how they develop, and how this affects their behavior in class.

  • discover how to build great relationships with and among your students.

  • identify how to use routines, rules, praise, and behavior management systems so your students know how to get along well in class.

  • learn how to design lessons that use movement, fun, creativity, and more to encourage your students to learn and be their best.

  • learn how to handle times when students make mistakes and how to help them to do better.

I designed this course to help new and experienced English teachers use positive, practical, and effective techniques so all of their students have a chance to enjoy learning in their classes. For example, you will learn how to structure your lessons to balance your students' energy levels, organize routines to make your lessons flow smoothly, and even give instructions so everyone is on the same page.

However, this is not a entry-level Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification course. It does not include sections on topics like how to teach vocabulary, grammar, or skills like reading and writing.

I have also arranged this course so you can watch it in any order you like, so pick and choose the sections that are most interesting to you.

The first two sections after the introduction cover some basic classroom management theory and how to understand our students, including their backgrounds, needs, development, and challenges while they are between the ages of 6 and 11.
Later sections cover practical class issues and techniques for building rapport, using routines, giving praise, using games with movement, and offering powerful opportunities for students to make choices in your lessons. These techniques will work for classes of 5 to 45 students.

In the final section, you will get a step by step guide for how to effectively respond when students misbehave in the classroom. You'll also review three cases of common classroom misbehavior, such as shouting during a game, and use the knowledge you learned during the course to explain why students acted out and what solutions might work best.

By the end of this course, you will have all the tools you need to create a great, well-run class for your students so everyone can successfully learn!

This truly was an amazing course! It has taught me so many important things that I wish I had been taught much much earlier. It's engaging and informative with lots of practical examples and it never gets boring. Will, the instructor, also serves as a great role-model in terms of articulation and body language. I highly recommend this course, I doubt you could find anything better on this topic.

Me , as a teacher who has just begun teaching English to big groups of students, found this course very helpful. I have a few answers to my many questions about classroom management and I was having some insights during the course. I wish the course had a ppt or any other written format of Will's useful pieces of advice though. I had to pause the video many times, so I ended up watching every 5 mins video for 15 mins or so :D Thank you!

I am a long time teacher of EFL in Korea myself, so the content is not unfamiliar to me. It is good to see though that there is a helpful comprehensive course out there which might be very beneficial for especially new (beginner)teachers.

I have 3 years of experience teaching ESL to children. So far, the course has been mostly focusing on what to expect as a teacher. For example, one video talks about common misbehaviours, but does not offer any solution or explanation for the behaviours. I just finished section 3 of the course, so hopefully more information will come soon.

This course offers very practical advice to both new and experienced teachers. The ideas shared in the video can be used immediately in the classroom. The instructor does a great job with making you really empathize what it is like to be a young student in the classroom and why his methods that he is sharing work to create a more caring and comfortable classroom for the students.

This course was full of practical and applicable techniques that I will use in my classes. Despite having taught for EFL for over 6 years I learned many new things and it reminded me of some basics that perhaps I had let slip in my complacency. This course was worth every penny. Thank you very much Mr. Herr.

Will Herr is hands down one of the best in the game when it comes to teaching ESL to young learners. They say 'good ESL teachers steal', and I feel no shame in admitting that I've stolen a lot of Will's ideas over the years and have passed them onto my own teachers when training them up! Highly recommend this course to any EFL teacher, old or new, looking to improve on their classroom management.

This is an extremely comprehensive course covering all elements of classroom management. Will does a great job at explaining the intricacies of ELT learners and provides a lot of useful background information in a relatable context. Even with over 6 years' experience in ELT, I was able to learn and pick up new ideas that can be applied to my classroom. I highly recommended this course to new and experienced English language professionals.

Ive done a F2F course with Will Herr before and this is my second one with him. For starters, the course does not feel like an online course. There are lots of useful techniques in this course and Will expands a lot on his personal experience to help the course attendee come out of this course feeling much more confident. Thanks Will!

An fantastic course full of interesting insight about student behaviour and mis-behaviour and our roles as teachers in this. It is well-researched, easy to understand, and there were many practical ideas that I have already implemented to enhance my teaching and student learning experience.

Excellent! A six-hour deep-dive (without filler) into everything a teacher needs to know about classroom management. It looks at the real causes for 'mis' behaviour in the classroom, and gives loads of practical solutions for dealing with them, in a way that treats children with dignity and respect. The course also covers the misconceptions teachers have about what classroom management is (i.e. stars, stickers, rewards, and so on) and details the shortcomings and unintended consequences of many of those oft-used systems. Classroom management can be the bane of the new teacher's life. Its hard enough when you first begin teaching classes of young learners, without the added pressure of a few children seemingly hellbent on making your life miserable. The perspectives, tools and approaches discussed in this course can be used to improve your classes without having to go through as much of the pain and frustration of having to learning them all through direct experience, as many of us have had to. Thanks for producing an excellent resource!
