The initial intro to tools was too fast, I was not able to duplicate using the eye dropper and applying color to a rectangle, no matter how many times I rewatched it and tried again. This was very frustrating because it's a basic capability. The instructor doesn't focus on teaching, it's more like "watch me work quickly". I even tried slowing down the video. It's poor teaching, unfortunately. I've worked in technology for decades, so it's not like I'm slow. This application is simply not intuitive and the tools are very tiny. In addition, there was too much filler and fluff in the beginning of the course. And the course keeps focusing on just eBook design, while it was advertised to be for physical books as well when I bought it. Unfortunately, this has not been worth the money. I will turn to YouTube for a free course for better instruction. I regret having taken this. Also, earlier, the woman who spoke was very difficult to understand, not just her accent but she slurs her words. Too bad, I had good experiences with Udemy in the past.

This course was a very good introduction to the process of cover design. I felt like both instructors were qualified to teach in their respective fields and that it delivered the value I was hoping for. The reason I selected a four-star rating instead of five is that some of the videos, particularly in the intro part of the series, took much longer than they needed to without delivering on content. There were a few where the instructor kept repeating the same info and could have said the same thing in half the length of time. Once we got into the actual content, I really liked it and learned a lot about the crucial concepts of cover design from Amy and simple techniques that a beginner can do in Photoshop from Phil.

Straight and to the point. Phil explains the content well. He also shows you examples of good ebook covers, and bad ones. Amy had some amazing content as well, that really made me start thinking about different titles, and how I buy content on Amazon. Started to all make sense! A nice page or two pdf with wrap up material from Amy would have been good. Color temps, how they are normally used, and Amy's top 10 tips.

Content was very useful, but the delivery is annoying. Too much talking in the beginning, and the pace is too slow until the end, when the instructor is actually demonstrating useful information. However I did pick up some useful information about creating ebook covers, even though I use Gimp, not Photoshop. I just skipped the Photoshop lectures.

The course dealt with a specific application - making an ebook cover. It delivered only this content, which was exactly what I was looking for. I use Photoshop Elements instead of Photoshop, but the instruction was easily implemented on my platform.

It is a very good and simple course that will help you to learn the basics of creating your first E-book cover. I, however, think it's a bit expensive for what it is taught. Don't get me wrong; the information is pretty good. But I think that adding more of the "Nuts & Bolts" of designing a book cover would be better for people with more knowledge or experience with Photoshop (experience that beginners can eventually achieve). I know that the first half of the course is theory and it is needed, but, getting to the final half the course became exponentially better and got me very interested. As a finally thought, I think the course is good. A bit too expensive for what it offers, but good nonetheless. I'm also pretty sure that it can get better with a few updates here and there and then the $50 course will be well worth it. Thank you Philip for all your help!

The ding of a quarter point is just because it's not as strong in graphic design as I had wished...BUT it gets bonus points for helping me learn more about some basic Photoshop challenges I was having. I will definitely look for more of Phil's courses to take. He's a really likable guy, and knows his stuff.

As a complete novice, I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to follow along. Phil makes everything very easy, clearly explaining each step from the beginning. I had NO expectations going into this course with ONE exception - and that ONE exception was met. So great job there! I'm a writer and product creator myself, but after taking this course I look at research a little different and I now feel that I can educate others on the importance of getting their own eBook covers to pop and sell. I learned some Photosop basics before so for me it's very easy to understand this couse, I have learned some rules and tips to create an ebook cover, very useful course. Even if you are new to Photoshop you can easily understand too because Philip will tell you how to use the most used tools when design an Ebook cover.

This is a great course whether you plan to design your own ebook cover or just wanted to be better prepared to hire out the design (and know a good cover design when you see one!)
