The course is simple and easy to understand but it will require a student to have basic knowledge of DSP, Signals and Systems, otherwise the course will appear to be incomplete. LPC could have been elaborated upon a little more. Concept of frequency domain analysis can be made more detailed like the one in time domain analysis. Concept of Poles and Zeroes can be added in brief

Pros : Good overview and clear explanations. Topics have been selected well for an introductory course. Cons : Though this is described as a beginner level course, the Matlab code is at an advanced level and would have benefited greatly from a more detailed walk-through. Or even better, a build up by using separate smaller scripts that demonstrate each step of the final application script. If commented well, these could just be added as resources to the current course.

Bad lectures. She explains spectrograms terribly and incorrectly. She shows graphs of voiced and unvoiced sounds without explaining what a voiced or unvoiced sound is.

Prof Vidya has articulately designed the course to get anybody riveted with speech processing. The Matlab codes and outputs helped me understand the topics clearly as opposed to routine learning. I hope more courses in related topics are put up by her to help with my coursework.

This is a very good introduction to speech processing. The explanation and examples are great, and it is great to have the code to experiment with. My only complaint is that the course is too short. There is so much more to learn. I hope there will be a follow-up class to go more in depth and cover more advanced concepts and methods. I am most interested in speech recognition, speaker recognition, and speech synthesis (I will work with non-human vocalizations, bioacoustics).

The course is excellent. It covers the important topics in less time and Vidya mam had explained the concepts along with MATLAB coding. Mam, kindly make more course lectures regarding Audio Signal Processing, Digital Signal Processing which covers all topics from basic to advanced level. Also, increase the duration of the course as per requirement. The presentation, explanation, and coding were excellent.
