Colombia has been inhabited by various indigenous peoples since at least 12,000 BCE, including the Muisca, Quimbaya and Tairona. The Spanish landed first in La Guajira in 1499 and by the mid-16th century colonized parts of the region, establishing the New Kingdom of Granada, with Santa Fé de Bogotá as its capital. Independence from the Spanish Empire was achieved in 1819, with what is now Colombia emerging as the United Provinces of New Granada. The new nation experimented with federalism as the Granadine Confederation (1858) and then the United States of Colombia (1863), before the Republic of Colombia was finally declared in 1886. Panama seceded in 1903, leading to Colombia's present borders. Beginning in the 1960s, the country has suffered from an asymmetric low-intensity armed conflict and political violence, both of which escalated in the 1990s. Since 2005, there has been significant improvement in security, stability and rule of law, as well as unprecedented economic growth and development.

Colombia is one of the world's seventeen megadiverse countries; it has the second-highest level of biodiversity in the world.[15] Its territory encompasses Amazon rainforest, highlands, grasslands and deserts. It is the only country in South America with coastlines and islands along both Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Colombia is a member of major global and regional organizations including the UN, the WTO, the OECD, the OAS, the Pacific Alliance and the Andean Community. It is also a NATO Global Partner. Its diversified economy is the third-largest in South America, with macroeconomic stability and favorable long-term growth prospects.

Basically, it has been very informative as well as educative. If you have plans of staying in the said country, this will help you to know to some extent what you're likely to experience.

I found the instructor to be engaging, jovial and funny. He did such a good job at promoting tourism in Columbia that the government there should pay him for his efforts. Just learning about how my ingrained fears were no longer a reflection of reality made me add Columbia back to my list of travel destinations, even if I never decide to move there.

I liked the course as I would like to travel to Colombia in the near future. The information in this course will help a lot with the details needed like getting long term visa's, knowing where to go, etc. The instructor is perpetually happy and seems to really like living in Colombia, this made the video's pleasant and very easy to watch. (I have been through some other courses with monotone voices and unenthusiastic hosts, which makes watching more like a chore). Hope to see some updates and/or another course on things like nightlife, bar/dating scene, attractions, learning spanish options (he had some in there in this video) and meeting other expats from USA in new video's. PS - In new video's make sure you change your shirt! Just kidding, I know it was custom made.

The course covered so much specific information that is hard to find in books or other sources about relocating to Latin America (Colombia in this case.) Greggo explained in an enjoyable way a lot of detail: names of places, institutions, forms, procedures and steps required to get certain things done, as well as cost of the process, options AND also his own personal experiences while doing those things (I loved that he mentioned some of his mistakes so we don't have to make them to learn what the best practices are!) I loved the pace of the course, the way the sessions were organized and it was an absolute pleasure to watch the amazing background as he talked to us. What a treat, what a wealth of information. I also loved his availability to connect with those viewers who want to start planning their own incursion into Colombia. This will make a huge difference in someone's experience, reducing so much stress and apprehension. And maybe his assistance will speed the relocation process. Greggo's enthusiasm for Colombia is contagious and he seems to be a natural teacher/ instructor. Very well put together course. I hope it reaches a large audience and opens the doors of Colombia to many in North America who had been a bit reluctant to consider it a possibility.

FABULOUS COURSE. Love the outside venue, the colors, the people. Greggo is an outstanding tour guide. I can't wait to visit Colombia. This course is way better than the travel channel. Thank you for making it.
