I really think that by narrowing the scope of the investigation of microaggressions to "marginalized groups," does a huge disservice to the wider context of maximizing "emotional intelligence" in the workplace and in the larger community. I am very much opposed to "grouping" human beings based on largely subjective criteria - or by racial, ethnic, or gender criteria. I think that "grouping" individuals does far more harm and in fact invites more stereotyping and misunderstanding and antisocial/abusive behaviour - consciously or unconsciously - than it prevents. "Grouping" human beings into specific categories sets up an "us versus them" dynamic which is very dangerous.

Interesting perspective and a calm and rational perspective on microaggressions at work. It can feel very offensive, and if you are on the receiving end of it, it can be confusing how to react to it, and I am glad that this course gives a rational approach.

Interesting perspective about microaggressions in the workplace. This course takes a measured and common sense approach. It acknowledges where there are wrongs, but doesn't recommend immediately jumping to conclusions like many other resources do. This course teaches how to be vigilant and ask for self respect professionally, and in a way that boosts your career, not distract from it by harboring anger or resentment.
