What you will learn

Handle and respond to cyber security incidents in your organization

Why take this course?

This course covers the six phases of incident handling and responding as follows:

0- Introduction: Includes the definition of an event, incident, as well as the difference between them

1- Preparation Phase: Shows the elements of preparation and the team building,

2- Identification Phase:  Demonstrates where identification occurs and the assessment for identification

3- Containment: Explains the deployment and categorization needed as well as the short/long- term actions taken

4- Eradication: Stresses on restoring systems and improving defenses

5- Recovery: Elaborates the validation and monitoring required for attacked systems

6- Lessons Learned: Confirms the importance of meeting as a team to fix and improve and to share our experiences with others

The course targets cybersecurity officers and incident handlers, and the material requires only basic IT knowledge and a little of cybersecurity background.

It is worth noting that incident response is a structured approach to handle various types of security incidents, cyber threats, and data breaches. The incident response methodology aims to identify, contain, and minimize the cost of a cyberattack or a live incident. A well-built incident response (IR) plan can fix a potential vulnerability to prevent future attacks, but it is not the sum game. Response is a part of Incident Handling which in turn looks at the logistics, communications, synchronicity, and planning required to resolve an incident.

Should mix points with case examples, otherwise the trainer is just going through bullet points I could read

The course is pretty much a reading of a presentation, no hands on with examples of how to manage cloud incidents or things like that.

Provide a clear and concise explanation with Incident Handling and Response. Good for beginners in this field. However, it lacks real world examples/scenarios and maybe it would help to add guide questions or short quizzes every chapter to enforce learning.

The voice over is poor, speaker can't properly speak English. Stumbles, can't find a right word and it is on PRERECORDED lecture. Did they heard about editing?

It's okay. Helped the flow of the instructor's speech to increase video speed to1.5x which had a more consistent flow for my ear. Blame was spelled wrong. Since Cyber Security is so much attention, while everyone knows it is just a typo and probably read blame and not balme, the devil is in the details. Good, high view of the topic, touching on each portion of the process from prep to recovery.

This course did not provide a Certificate of Completion at the end of it which is required to prove you took the course.

Its a ham fisted attempt at a high level overview. Very little substance given and a lot of pertinent information is glossed over or not discussed at all. Much of the methods, techniques are as dated as the course

You know your subject but went through the content so quickly that I hardly had time to grasp Anything. PowerPoints can be boring because the student will read then and not concentrate on what you are saying.

Good points regarding incident management not only for cyber security experts but for IT professionals as well

I appreciate the instructor’s breadth of knowledge, but I feel they would benefit from some public-speaking or instructor training. Also, the slides aren’t organized very well, students would benefit from clearly defined Title, Section, Subsection, and bullet points.

I like the lecturer's approach to the topic - anticipating and planning for a few moves ahead. That's in my opinion the essence of security thinking.

Was quite hard to understand at times. At the end the presentation said BALME game not BLAME game. It could do with tweaking!

Narrator is a bit quick - some pauses between bullet points would help, particularly for those (trying to) take notes.
