Innovative Thinking Principles: Inquiry-Based Approach

This course is well organized and informative. But, there is some disappointment happen to me with this course as i have been watching this course bit-by-bit since last 4-5 days, when section for curiosity in problem solving skill comes up, it was saying - "Instructor has not added content to this lecture" for all the sub-sections of the two sections of Curiosity in Problem Solving Skill and Applying Curiosity in Education, but when entering again after few hours this course have completely removed both these two sections, which were there before. I don't know why this is done so and by whom. But I feel these two sections are very relevant to this course, without which it is incomplete, I would request whoever is the concern to check and update again as many people will not be happy if not rectify. And I am looking forward positively and hence giving five starts.

I am disappointed by this course. It has a 'highest rating' and I expected a lot more. First let me say the good bits: 1. From the opening lecture it is clear the course is well organised. The modules are introduced clearly. 2. The next lecture deals with a Disclaimer. First time I have seen this on a Udemy course. Straight away I am slightly put off as it seems to be referring ONLY to students who have PAID for the course. What about those who have a free coupon. Now we get to the downsides. 1. The Course Description. This states : "....an enriching deep dive into human curiosity. Spanning multiple in-depth modules with captivating lessons, you’ll thoroughly explore ..." That's just nonsense. There is a lecture called 'How can leaders promote curiosity as a culture?' It lasts TWO minutes. Another one 'How can the culture reward curiosity?' - two minutes. These are very very lightweight lectures, skimming over key points, lacking real-life examples. 3. The Course Description states: "...This thought-provoking online course ..." There are 2736 students on the course and yet NOT ONE has been sufficiently encouraged to post in the Q/A. Yes, maybe lazy students but where is the encouragement from the Instructor? Where are the mini case studies? The business references? The graphics? The film-clips? The numerous examples? The invitations to students to participate? In fact, where is the incentive to...be curious. 3. Small point: the microphone in some lectures is giving an echo. 4. There are Practice Tests. That's good but....but....I took the final test. Six minutes allowed for three questions! Fairly obvious answers. Only one out of 3 needed to pass. This is at the END of the course, remember. THREE questions. Again, lightweight, too simple, discouraging. 5. The entire course is ppt. and talking head. All very bland. This is a course that "Explore the profound impact of curiosity on brain development, and delve into the interconnectedness between motivation and curiosity." This sounds great but no-one is delving, no-one is inviting. No extra resources. No manuals. No links for research. Just head and ppt. 6. At times it seems the Instructor - thought a natural speaker - is just going through the motions. State points, put on ppt and move on. Where is the innovatory approach? Something to really entice and involve the student? Sloppy in course information too: "Acquire practical techniques and approaches that utilise curiosity as a powerful FUEL to navigate challenges in both professional and educational settings." There are no prerequisites for this course except "There are no prerequisites for this course beyond an earnest desire to unlock your capacities for imagination, critical analysis, and intellectual exploration." Earnest desire? There is no energy, desire, enticement, application, further development on this course. From the Course Description I expected so much more. If this is supposed to be an example of "...Our human-centric learning platform features informative lectures, engaging exercises, and actionable strategies" then the Instructor is seriously misguided. This review may seem unduly harsh BUT part of the theme of this course is to encourage feedback, to take on board criticisms and to have assumptions challenged. Therefore all the criticisms above can be actioned on and if so, the course will be so much better. (There's not even any Educational Announcements!) UPDATE I posted some of my criticisms in the Q/A and to be fair, the Instructor did reply but only in a further misleading way. She wrote that the lectures are 'deliberately concise'....this totally contradicts the Course Description. So my major criticism is that the Course Description does not match the course and the course itself seriously lacks in resources and is just talking head plus ppts. No, no, no. That KILLS curiosity; KILLS making an inquiry; KILLS innovation...the evidence is the total lack of participation by the 2000+ students.

This course has been very useful for me as it has re-fired my curiosity and taught me how to find opportunities for innovation in everyday life. I will recommend this course to people of all ages and professions.
