What you will learn

How to create a stylized 3d scene.

Description

In this course I'll show you how to create a stylized environment that can be used for games or cinematics. We are going to create everything from scrach using 3Ds Max, Zbrush, Substance Painter and Unreal Engine 4. As the process of creating the environment is long there are going to be two types of video tutorials, once that I show and explain on a test model what I'm using and the once that I'll be modeling by using the same teqchies in a normal speed, but there will be only chill backround music.

The course is not designed for beginners, if you don't know any of the software used to make this, which for me was substance painter, you won't get very far. The Zbrush sections help you understand howto better use Orb brushes to make rocks. Personally, I thought there were some areas he could explain a bit about what he's doing to get the effects he's making to get the sharpness of the cracks as well as the indentation for the rocks on the stair case. Eventually I made my own workflow for making the rocks, where I just follow a similar set of steps he tooks in the videos with the music which was, (if there are hard edges) trim dynamic>orb clay>orb cracks>orb flatten edge> orb pinch Something I disliked is that he played music over the substance painter section, which I got lost as to what he was doing, though again I don't know substance painter, I'm sure if you know it you will get far with texturing. There was a part where he scaled the models in 3DS Max, I scaled mine in blender, this ended up causing substance painter to take an excessively long time to unwrap the UVs from the models, not knowing that you import the FBX you exported from Zbrush would have helped. I haven't finished the course entirely, but I will come back when I know more about what I'm doing.

I think this is good practice: to explain for 15 minutes, only then to do it. Watching tutorials for 30 hours, when 29 of them are well known to you, is very tiring.

Great work, very easy to follow. I specially like that the sculpting part goes from start to finish as this was my main skill I wanted to improve.

I am very happy about the course. There is the whole process shown, very easy to repeat it and recreate such environment. it’s very cool that the course includes all the stages of creating the environment from skratch.
