Why take this course?

jQuery is a great way to add amazing functionality and dynamic effects onto your web pages.   jQuery provides great functionality when it comes to forms, and creating forms is an essential skill within web development.

Together with HTML forms jQuery can do so much.

This course will cover how to match two form fields to check if the content is the same which is a useful code snippet to help provide form content vetting.

Use check-boxes to trigger events such as TOS windows and more.   Check-box interaction within a form is a much needed piece of functionality.

Learn to make AJAX calls to the server with drop down values, checkboxes and radio buttons triggering events.   Dynamic form interaction allows you to provide each user a more customized form experience.

Add jQuery UI auto complete and populate the auto complete with dynamic JSON data.   JQuery UI has many pre-built capabilities that are easy to add to your web projects.

By the end of the course you will have the skills and know how to apply jQuery within your website.

I am here to help you learn how to create your own websites and ready to answer any questions you may have.

I was thrust into a situation with a new project where I needed to build a form that offered a checkbox triggered "Same Address Above " for automating the setting up of LLC's and Corporations. I googled everywhere looking for how to and considered paying someone to build it for me so I would be able to keep the project. I had no luck until I found what appears to be the silver bullet - This course. Thank you for teaching this. I needed this refresher for jQuery as well as some much needed formmanipulation techniques via jQuery. Wishing you long life and great health. Best Regards!

Yes, this is a good match and I can follow along pretty well. I only wish that it might have included a hands on section after each demonstration.

This course is too short and too partial. 'Form' is already a partial subject in JavaScript, so this course should have covered comprehensive topics about 'Form'. but this course covers just 4~5 elements of forms.

It's my first course on Udemy. I liked very much the course. Now I think I will be able to do interesting exercises with what I got. The instructor was very clear. And the different steps he used to present the different aspects of the subject of the course were well organized for me. Something I would like now: the minimum documentation to find my way in the different existing options of jQuery.

Easy, understandable, at a reasonable price when discounted (not worth 200$, but I don't regret a 12$ buy). Thanks.

I have now done a few courses by this instructor and I really like his presentation style. He is knowledgeable and clearly spoken. Like the rest of us, he sometimes gets a bit befuddled when coding on the fly, but I think that keeps things fresh.

I usually leave a rating for a course only after finishing it, but in this case I am doubtful I will ever finish the course; still I believe what I am about to share is relevant and my rating is justified. The lecturer is undoubtedly very experienced with JavaScript and jQuery. However I strongly object to his approach, which became apparent as early as during lecture 3. If you watch that video, you will find it obvious that the author did little to no preparation in advance. Delivery of the material is chaotic and it seems as if the lecturer is thinking how to perform the task at hand while recording the video. There is no obvious planning, and the lecturer just skips to different parts of the code when his train of thought arrives at the conclusion that something will be a good idea. Why he thinks that something will be a good idea, he doesn't explain at all. If I can generalize the previous statement, there is a disconnect between *what* is happening as a result of the program code and *why* it is happening. The student doesn't know what to expect from the lecture and can easily get confused when the objectives change in the middle. Programming courses are as much an exercise in completing a specific task as they are a demonstration of a method, or an approach towards any given subject. I go to a workshop or subscribe to a courses on the assumption that I will be able to tap into the knowledge and workflow of someone with vastly larger experience than mine; otherwise I could have stuck with the official documentation. If the lecturer shows a clear method or approach, then the student will come out of the course with abstract understanding and sufficient practical examples so that he can then apply these towards solving real-life tasks. If the lecturer does not have a demonstrable method, the student will leave the course with some code that can be copied verbatim and will work, but without any idea how to adapt this code to a different task -- because the method behind the code is unclear. My second big objection (again in Lecture 3) is the author's decision to test the repeat password field for match against the type password field but not vice versa. This is bad advice which *will* cause issues in real-life scenarios (I may not know jQuery, but I know UX). And because the lecturer does not discuss what he plans to do before he does it, and changes his plan what to do in the middle of the lecture, a less experienced student may not be able to derive the principle behind the code. Ergo, the course fails at its main objective of offering principles and a structured approach to a problem. I haven't passed so many courses in Udemy (about a dozen or so over a period of a couple of years) but in every other instance the lecturer has been much better prepared in advance. These are the reasons why I can't fully recommend this course. It might not be fair for a student to leave feedback before watching the course to the end, but neither it is fair for the teacher to have such unstructured, borderline sloppy approach.

It's a good course and sections are well explained by Laurence. However, I felt that there was quite a jump/increase in difficulty about half way through the course.

There is no Test Documents, there is nothing digital to work with, some examples that was shown would have been nice for proper beginners, for example when he changed the Functions, Variables etc it would be nice to have a document to explain what they are and what they do, as a person cannot remember everything while watching a video, or even several times over, perhaps there will be something after the course?

I believe what his examples were showing were something I could have looked up as there was very little explanation on how he came to his conclusions.

There is no other tutorial out there explaining how to properly use jquery for beginners. This is the only one and it is easily understandable for beginners i think.

The Instructor has a very good explanation of the software and how it is implemented in everyday life. Very good course for students who want a combination of js/jquery and jason.
