While I have experience with Affinity Publisher (because I do interior layout for print, as well as cover design for books) I find that the instructor is teaching me aspects of Affinity Publisher that I was completely unaware of, so I'm quite pleased. Being self-taught, it's always good to 'sit down with someone else' and learn from them.

I very nearly gave the course a lower grade, but there is useful information in it. I felt too often as if the instructor didn't really have a good understanding of Affinity Publisher. Too many instances of mistakes being made, pauses, and the corrections of those mistakes.

I've been looking for a practical tutorial applicable to my current project (creating a book cover) ever since I acquired the Affinity Creative Graphic suite of software. Since I'm not a graphic professional, learning about the software without the when, where, why and how to apply the tools is useless. I'm ecstatic that this course is so specific to the actual project I'm working on and that it's meticulously detailed step-by-step. The textual frames followed by the video make this course especially useful. I look forward to more courses by this author. Complex Affinity Photo compositions possibly? I believe the course could be polished by editing some of the awkward moments where it seems the author is actually unfamiliar with Affinity. I'm guessing he's attempting to repeat a project done in another program (Adobe?). For example: you can turn snapping off rather than trying to work around it. One part that was not thoroughly addressed was the sizing and placement of objects. MM sizing was present but not how/why calculated and it seemed it had to be adjusted anyway. Was that because Affinity was different from the software the original project was based on? I would still very highly recommend this tutorial. I learned a lot and now feel confident that I can create a nice cover with this software and I'm sure I will not be completely fluid with the software when I do it either.
