The vital keys to preventing escalation and dispute.

How to turn potential flare-ups into constructive conversations.

Ways to engage with people who might become confrontational.

Description

Conflict is inevitable. It is a fact of life and most people are afraid of it. But you don't have to be. Conflicts grow out of  disagreement, or simply difference. This course will give you all you need to prevent or manage conflict, whether it involves you directly, or other people.

Conflict is immensely costly to organisations,   damaging to relationships and disastrous for productivity. It might be an   argument between a line manager and a member of their team, a personality   clash between colleagues or even a power dispute between different   departments. Wherever it arises, conflict is a   major cause of stress in the workplace and it can lead to long-standing   grievances, factionalism and absenteeism.

Confident conflict resolution skills will set you apart. Being able to   handle conflict effectively, whatever the situation, is an ability that will   help you to build strong, constructive working relationships and improve the   overall performance of your team, group or department.

This course features easily learned tactics, clearly explained by Barry Winbolt, a trainer and mediator, based on his 30 years' experience of tackling workplace conflict in different settings and cultures.

In a series of engaging videos, he explains the pitfalls that cause conflict and the patterns that lead to escalation. He shows you how to avoid those frustrating cycles of argument and resistance. He then provides a comprehensive   toolkit for creating positive outcomes through conversations that build trust rather than dividing people. He explains why early intervention is best, how to deftly handle disputes before they get out of control, and turn them into constructive conversations.

By the end of this course, you'll have a better understanding of conflict, which will reduce any uncertainty you may have in tackling it. It will place you ahead of the pack; positive conflict management skills are a key component of leadership.

This short course will give a better understanding   of:

  • A framework for handling conflict and disputes with confidence

  • Patterns of conflict and how it escalates

  • How to stop a disagreement escalating into a dispute

  • When and how to intervene in a dispute between others

  • The key communication steps you need to resolve a conflict

  • How to avoid confrontation and deadlock

  • How to move from confrontation to constructive conversations.

This course requires 'older gentleman patience.' The information overload got to me. I ended up downloading the resource material. I recommend extending the course into a 3 hour course, and give examples. This helps break it into digestible bites for learners, AND the benefit of examples and less resource downloads means I spend less time reading downloadable. Barry is an expert in this subject, no doubts.

This was a good course even if one doesn't experience conflict on a grand scale. It offered very compelling insight into how we blindly walk into conflict - and how we might recognize that and take a detour.

Sounded like a dry subject. Would have been much better if you narrate some stories or examples of how to resolve the conflicts

Could have been better if there were some videos for situation analysis. To me it looked bland may be expecting more from the course.

This is very effective and we face this in day to day life so getting into earlier and changing our behavior will be very useful.

This course is short and to the point! Easy to understand content and super helpful tools. The presenter clearly has a ton of experience in the field of conflict resolution.

It confirmed that conflict is not built overnight but is a journey which can be stopped at different stages. The sooner the intervention, the better to keep a relationship ongoing and sincere. Assumptions can fuel conflicts at times in ways we least expect and we need to modify self since we can not modify the attitudes of others.

Yes it is a good match for me because it has enabled me turn theory into concrete and systematic practice which has been paramount to the advancement of my career.

A lot of good advices on how to handle conflicts, both when being part of a conflict, or being a witness. Also great background knowledge to understand the mechanism of conflicts

If there were more sample conflict videos, it might have been more efficient. Style of narrative is good, softly but there's no way to reinforce it without example videos.

This course has been a great experience for me, it has gone beyond my expectations. I am learning to understand how to deal with daily conflict. It also provides the necessary techniques to avoid getting into conflict and how to come out of it in a meaningful and natural way. The speaker demonstrates his wisdom and knowledge throughout this course. This techniques not only can be used at work but also in our personal life. I recommend this course 100% as we all should learn to be patient with others instead of being combative and aggressive when managing conflict is easy.

Great course! It gives you a clear understanding of "how to" and the reasons for it (instead of endless definitions and categorisations ending in themselves :-)

I was looking for something a little more tailored to conflict in the workplace, with more examples of same. The lecturer was clearly knowledgeable and very experienced in his field. A fine communicator and the score simply reflects that fact that the explanation of the course didn't quite meet my expectations in relation to it being workplace focused.

The most important tip that I learned, were the Steps to Managing Emotions. This was a huge help...never really thought of some of these.
