Hi, my name is Ethan Lo, I'm from Vox Art Studio.

I've been into art education since 2006,and occasionally involve myself in digital content industries such as animation, game and other industries which need digital illustration.

My personal favorite field in digital art is creating conceptual environment art.

Especially, an open world either in fantasy or sci-fi genre.

The process of creating an environment art is always an escape to me.

I love to explore my imagination and often lose myself into the world which I have created.

This is how I found my happiness and I wish to share it to you as well.

The digital art software which I'm teaching is KRITA.

KRITA is an open source software which means it is totally free.

You may visit their website to download a copy of either the Windows or Mac version.

This course is for those who are beginners in digital art and wish to learn new techniques and tools that can boost their creativity and efficiency.

Throughout the course, you will learn:

How to set up your own brush tag & customize your personal brush preset.
You will learn how to utilize tools in KRITA to increase your effectiveness in painting.
For art beginners, I have created a clear step by step tutorial in creating environment assets or what we call props design.
Understanding composition and perspective drawing in conceptual environment art.
Learn how to paint over photograph technique in creating concept art.
If you have no idea how to start your concept art, you may start from getting inspiration from your researched photos and start building on it.

Just finished the course. All the time I have learnt from youtube. This was the first course i bought a concept art course it was amazing learnt a lot of new thing The photobashing Advance was a little hard but overall it was perfect for me (Who has never done Concept Environment before)

The course info is extensive on the subject of creating concept art and use digital painting techniques along with the use of photo's. Very good for beginners and creators that have a basic knowledge of using digital painting programs. Even though the accent of Ethan can be somewhat confusing at times, he is a great teacher and a fine artist.

If you are looking for painting from scratch, this is not for you. I didn't learn much from it. I learned more from David Revoy on youtube. Also, if you are not used to his accent it will be difficult to understand. I was about to refund but, I guess at that time I watched a little much already.

Overall the course did its job to teach how to create concept using Krita. The course focus more on the process and technique used by the teacher himself. Yes its very practical. But I would appreciate if the teacher remove the graphical intro (& the sound effect) in every video. It's getting bit annoying every time a video start. It's enough to have 1 in the first video. Thank you.

Super informative, easy to follow. I especially like how the lessons are following each other in a logical order, referring back to past modules, using what was learnt there. And it is very beginner friendly. I have 0 experience in drawing or art, but the tutorial helped me to draw basic things. (have not finished the course yet)

Alrighty then, THIS COURSE is not what it is shown in the intro/preview. Course starts by instructor showing off multiple pieces of artwork, automatically thinking that these pieces will be in the course, how to create them etc. Wrong! Course contains only two art pieces what is shown in the intro and there are no further previews of the course. Hmm very scummy! 50 % of the course contains "photobashing" instead of drawing. If i really wanted watch photobashing i would rather search on google/youtube for free. Now, that i skip through all lectures and decided im not satisfied with this course and wanted to refund it. Whats that? I can't refund it? It is not even 30 days. Where did that come from? Misleading intro and misleading udemy policy by mentioning 30 day refund policy. Good one! Im no longer buying any course here!

Ethan is an amazing teacher. This course paces itself well to scale from a beginner to intermediate. I'm grateful for the fundamentals and opportunity to learn Krita better as well as creating some ideas that can be reworked into my portfolio. The audio was a bit difficult to listen to in the beginning however it does improve. I have precomputer drawing/painting, sketching knowledge however not much in the advanced area. including some techniques that I would use in 3D modeling that would never occur to me to use like this. It's a great course just hang in through the audio issues I think it's worth it.

This is an incredible course! Previously I had no idea of the power of photo bashing. There are a lot of art software training courses out there that show you only what each tool in the software does but then go no further. Ethan's course is the exact opposite. He walks you through creating different concept art examples step by step to the finished product. He is a very talented artists so his examples are top quality. He doesn't go into great depth on how to use each tool in Krita, but covers just what you need to know to achieve similar results. With that said, you might also want to take another course that talks about the tools more, but those types of courses seem to be plentiful, whereas this type of course, where a talented artist shows you the complete process, especially specific to Krita, are harder to find. Well worth the cost!
