Complete, step by step for beginners like me, the perfect start for a Windows network admin who wants to monitor the network. Solarwinds, PRTG costs a lot and do the same.

I was looking for some time for a free and very good monitoring platform. I have tried many times Nagios but without success. Now I'm sure the story will be different.

Fast, clear and easy to follow. I hope there will be a second part with more advanced features and examples. Anyhow, I would start in next days to play with Nagios in my lab.

Doesn't really cover any material. This would be better described as setting up Ubuntu 14.04 and loading a flavor of Nagios. It doen't cover any real setup and only shows the teachers preferences in web views. Not worth much.

Not at all what I expected. Using of NRPE plugins and all..why are they not included? Total waste of money

The course was very fast and mostly worked as of today. Differences in the currently available version of omd, and having to setup check_mk server and agent are not the same today as when the course was created. Having a linux background I was able to work around these. I did not test on a Windows client. An update to a current version of omd/check_mk would be helpful for the future. The installation of a current omd verison and check_mk is a bit easier, you can actually add the ppa on ubuntu, just don't forget to add the gpg key for the repository. Don't forget that you have to manually add the check_mk_agent and server with apt-get. You must manually add the agent even on the Nagios server, and ensure it's turned on in /etc/xinetd.d/check_mk everywhere. With those workarounds in mind, you can successfully complete this course with current omd and check_mk. The documentation on both the nagios and check_mk sites will help you with these.

A little bit to fast at clicking and going page to page or screen to screen. A slower speed would allow trainee to see/follow/understand how it fits together.
